Does HAL know how to pick a stater?

PostTue Dec 22, 2015 1:30 am

I just started playing in a new 60s league and am employing the three studs and a dud starting pitching strategy. I didn't designate who the fourth starter would be, deciding to let HAL pick the starter for game 4. HAL has a choice between two right handers, one strong vs. right (Early Wynn) and the other (Dave Giusti) a switch, who performs well against left handed batters. The team that I'm going against next is stacked with right handed batters. HAL has elected to start the switch pitcher (Dave Giusti). Overall, Giusti rates as a 3L and Wynn is a 4R. Why is HAL picking Giusti? Did I get Giusti's 1968 card where he's balanced 1R? Did I get a bad Early Wynn card? Or is HAL sabotaging my team?

I'm perplexed and don't know whether to trust HAL's judgment. Any insight would be appreciated.

don't trust HAL for nothing...make your own choices...but all in all...it comes down to who has the higher salary as to who starts.

I believe Pyramid1 has it right, the computer (Hal) will pick the more expensive pitcher. If they are the same salary he might pick the one with the better card, or maybe the one who pitched more innings... This is why the Mystery Game is so much harder and better than the regular on-line game. Good luck!
