was looking at some of the 40 finalists.

Ellsworth seems due.
Koufax deserves his best card and 64 with low hr totals is arguably his best.
Kell had his 5 best/monster years with Tigers, yet his ATG cards are Chw and Bos, huh??? 3 times in top 8 in MVP
I like adding newer guys in as well... Zobrist, Verlander, etc... too bad about Harper.

gonna do a little more research on some before I vote though....

Hopefully this is not the final list to vote on. I would like to see some priority for franchise selections especially those that have a limited player list and have holes in their rosters (blue jays do not have a centrefielder that is usable). although one of my favourite players of all time is ICHIRO, I don't really think his cards year over year of his best seasons are really that different.

Lets avoid players that already have cards. I agree that the 1986 Barfield card is his best but a Wells cf card of his best year(s) would be used more. sometimes some obscure players are nominated, and then I never see them used in leagues. Franchise leagues seem to be more popular than ever, therefore I think there should be some focus on beefing up some franchises.

While I'd be happy if we had a "better" Koufax card,I don't think this card will be any better. He gave up 18 homers in 311 innings in '63 and 13 homers in 223 in '64, which is practically the same; had a better whip in '63, and a better so/w ratio in '63.

So, sadly, a vote for '64 Koufax feels like a wasted vote

They've made cards over night during the playoff's to show how well a player is doing and posted them on facebook. So that's why I was assuming it wouldn't be a big deal.

One thing. Those were not real cards any more than that spring training based Bryant card was. They were essentially thrown out there for publicity purposes and thus only needed to be in the ballpark of a card that would work based on small sample size. For purposes of adding to a full 200x set or ATG I would expect producing a truly accurate card would have to wait for the full set to be put together and ALL the factors that go in to a card included. Remember, they claim these are not just computer generated from some simple set of stats.

Ditto for the experimental daily updated cards that are going to be similar to fantasy baseball. A card that is not fully accurate will not be a big deal since it is going to be replaced quickly by another one. The function/purpose of those cards is to generate publicity and revenue and if any given card is a little off no big deal because of the short shelf life.

no. I have the '64 game and his bphr are less than either of the 2 current cards. It would probably be his best card of the 3.

but I hear ya, we do have 2 nice Koufax cards already.

I found a few more I'd like to see (and some I don't care for) as I researched on baseball reference each of the 40 finalists.

I do like Verlander and Zobrist additions. also like Durham and Loretta. but....can only pick 5....and there are a few older ones I really like (Kell being a prime example, still can't believe he has no Detroit card in ATG...yet)

the sewell card is getting a lot of early votes. when i looked, it was his best hitting season but statistically (fldg % and range factor) it was one of his worst fielding years. anyone have that year's game and know what his fielding rating is?

On the Koufax front, I think it's kind of similar to Seaver.
We had the 69 card and weren't impressed. "Maybe if we got the 71 card." No, not really. "How about the 1975 card?" Incrementally better, but....let's get the 1973 card!!

Because they were pitching icons, I think we think Koufax and Seaver should be better than they turn out to be once a card is delivered.

about a year ago they changed a bunch of atg cards. maris and blanchard from the 61 yanks were totally different.

These changes were the result of changing out some of the outdated "chevy" season cards with their updated "cadillac" season cards.

Andy has a point about the incrementally different cards such as Seaver.
However, if Paul is right and we get the version of the card he has seen and it has no #s on it then it will be a more useful card.
