I looked at the league rules on the google doc, and it looks like I can promote my prospects "at any time" as long as I have roster space to do so.

So, is it possible for me to declare my "20 man roster" without any prospect promotions, and then just draft only 7 players in the free agent draft, and promote 3 prospects either at the beginning of the free agent draft, or at the end of the free agent draft, or after my 7th free agent draft pick? Or all of the above?

Thanks - it will make a big difference for me this year, in terms of reducing the number of roster cuts that I will have to make to get down to 20 (i.e. while keeping the prospects just on the prospect list).

BTW, I am planning on promoting 3 prospects this year - it's just that I would like to do that *after* the cut down to my 20 man roster.

The answer is no. This is why I voted NO in the other league as well. I see this as roster manipulation to prevent you from making cuts. The 20 is there for a reason -- to open up the free agent pool for other teams to improve. If you do this it will lesson the already slim pool by 3 players and you will benefit greatly from it (you get to keep 23 and draft 7 vs. 20 and 10, which is HUGE when you consider how slim rounds 7 to 10 are). I would love to do this too and keep Javier Baez down, but it is "gaming" the system and is not allowed.

OK, and I definitely get this - but then someone should update the rules on the google document, because that's not what it says on the rules page on the google document. Are we sure that the rule was changed in this league? Where are the rules published?

By the way Turtle, what you're saying is what I thought the rules were - I'm just saying we should make sure that the rules are published accurately somewhere where we can find them, and that the published rules are up to date.

PS - please note that I changed my vote to no in the other 24 team keeper league, for the good reasons you've stated.

I might be interested in trading (for picks or prospects) one of Gardner or G. Blanco or Rasmus. Also could trade Vogt (C/1b), and/or Pennington and/or Flaherty for picks or prospects. I could also trade Almonte (good year in 2015) for picks or prospects.

I plan to protect both Yu Darvish and Jarrod Parker (not carded in 2015 but could be 2016 comebacks). If someone wants to make an offer for them I could be open to that. These guys could be traded for active players, or picks and/or prospects. I wouldn't mind still trading for picks or prospects in order to free up my 20 roster spots for other players.

BTW I hope the ratings download comes out by mid-January, and I might want to wait until then before concluding a trade, but if you're interested let's talk now already anyway.
