I should have known better

PostSun Jan 17, 2016 8:21 pm

I haven't posted in a while... scaling back on an already light playing schedule, however I should have known better... got to love this game because anything can happen.

A decent team, in first place with close to best record in the league, should not go and lose 15 straight games, when only losing fourteen would have got me into the playoffs. Yeah last series of the year I win 2 and miss by one game. Just couldn't recover from the 'NORMALIZATION" phase the team went through.

Another team, below five hundred all season, makes the playoffs on the last night, tying the other first place team and getting in because of the better head to head record. Got to play them all cause they sure do count in the end.

Amazing how "normalization" only impacts teams to cause them to lose and never causes anyone to win. You would think it would at least occasionally work the opposite direction.

Valen, I agree.
I play a lot of online poker, while not being good enough to turn pro, I have done quite well.
Bad beats happen, but when they do, someone else wins.

Of course it works in both directions-- teams will suddenly reel off 13 wins like mine did a couple nights ago--

BUT, how does that make it okay?

Its just as crappy when your team might be sucking most of the season, be under .500 and then suddenly hit a huge winning streak.

I thought they turned normalization off? (Last I played was ATG 3)... Did they not turn it off or turn it back on? I hated having Mays hit his HR limit by the All Star break and suck the rest of the season.

Some folks believe its not on and some folks do.

Last time this happened apparently it was also a similar argument, and then of course, it turned out to be on.

My understanding is that the Home Run normalization of the past is off. My understanding is that there are however those that believe some other normalization is on to curtail the high win or high loss teams from going too far.

Normalization seems to be on for the NFL playoffs.
