Wilcy Moore

PostTue Jan 19, 2016 3:47 am

Not wanting to take away needed Reliever only guys from the pre-war set, but really, shouldn't Wilcy Moore's 1927 card be S/R given that he started 12 of the 50 games he appeared in, pitching 6 complete games (meaning that at least 50 of his 213 innings are from his complete games alone -- 93 of his innings come from starts, some 44%)?

It seems like you have found a mistake that needs correcting.

When Strat added the rule requiring 3 RP-only pitchers to "prevent" super-relievers, they dropped the "S" rating on a number of old-timer cards to increase the pool of R-only cards in the set.

That wasn't to prevent super-relievers, it was to prevent the "no-relief, every SP goes 9+ inning" method.

And a good thing, too...that way I don't have to remember what the second thing to go is... ;)
