ATG 999 Million Dollar Cap "Unwritten" Rules

PostTue Jan 19, 2016 2:50 am

I see every Friday night there is a live ATG8 999 million dollar cap league. I am curious, if I join one of these leagues and say I am lucky enough to draft Babe Ruth (192X) and Babe Ruth (192X) gets hurt, can I drop Babe Ruth (192X) for Babe Ruth (192Y) until Babe Ruth (192X) is healthy again? Are there "unwritten rules" how is this handled? Can I start Greg Maddux on back to back nights if I drop one Maddux for another?

As a follow up, what do these fine people have against salary caps? Wouldn't some kind of cap (100 -200 million) prevent such shenanigans? Calculating cap space in a live draft seems like much of the strategy and fun, maybe some are too lazy for that...??

I would like to participate in a live draft but would also like to know the "unwritten" rules, if there are any, going in. .... Thank you for any clarifications from the ATG8 live draft crowd.

Unless specified, there are no unwritten rules in 999. Do what you want. If you want to control the shenanigans, then enter 140-200M leagues where these types of shenanigans will hurt rather than help you.

Good luck and God bless!

I am currently on my second 999 mil live draft team, and went in to league 1 with similar concerns about unwritten rules. But after posting a similar question on the boards, and watching how that league unfolded, it really is anything goes. This second time, I have the 9.75 Schmidt who I have replaced with the 9.27 version twice following multi day injuries, I have Mays who gets flip-flopped between the 11.69 and 12.69 versions depending on park and opposing pitchers, and no one has said anything about it (perhaps they are cursing off line?). of course, many are using similar strategies for Bagwell, Gibson and other higher injury guys, as well as changing pitchers on a regular basis.

It might be interesting at some time to do a 250 mill league, which seems to be pretty much the max you can get in with 28 players in a 12 team league, but until then, it really does seem to be do everything you can to put your best team on the field each night.

Now I am being told by "The Last Druid" that, dropping an injured player's card for another card of the same player is "underhanded chicanery" ? How has this not come up before? I am thoroughly confused...???

I agree with druid... I asked a long time ago that if a player is dropped for the same player at a different salary then the dropped player goes bye bye...end of shenanigans

Usually folks discuss those rules at the beginning --
different leagues have decided different things.

....

Exactly
which is why I started this thread BEFORE I joined Petrosian's (or Bruce or The Last Druid or whatever he is calling himself these days) league (quite ironically) called, "Live Draft Done Right".

By the way, I am against being able to drop one player's card for the same player's different card but if Petrosian felt this way, why didn't he just make a salary cap of say, 225-250 million? .... This is the same guy who has played 1500 teams and quits once a year in a huff only to come back with a new alias...

It is not me who has injured players...I just want to know which rules to play by, please?

Are there other "Unwritten Rules" this Petrosian/ Last Druid character likes to use, he is refusing to answer questions about his "unwritten rules", preferring to taunt me and brag about his SOM on-line prowess instead..

I just want to know the rules please....??

This is the message I got from The Last Druid when I asked what rules we are playing by:

To: Me
From: The Wrong Stuff (The Last Druid)
Date: Tuesday, 1/26/2016 8:48pm

No doubt you wasted mommy and daddy's money on this credit. You have no chance of competing in this league. There will be no further messaging between us. Run your mouth all you like.
