The biggest problem with the game is the default settings of the computer engine cant be tweaked. Of particular concern are "correct for boardgame excess" and clutch starting pitchers at home. But the worst is with pitcher fatigue -- instead of using the "@" symbol when a pitcher reaches fatigue to be come a single** , the computer instead manipulates the result to lead to a hit/walk/xbh result. Other options that you can turn off are "bunt for basehit" -- plus the bullpen logic of the computer game is way better.

I'd like this even more if you could select a second choice that DOES NOT play the same position (would still have to be cheaper of course)

I guess in theory there is no reason he would have to play the same position, just would have to be cheaper. Now it seems much easier to implement anyways. I like your thinking.

lots of good suggestions here, most of which would be easy to accommodate...but none as easy as mine.

can we make the N and W power ratings on the hitters cards WHITE so us old farts can see them more easily?!

I would like an option for say a expanded taxi squad in lieu of the entire body of cards as replacements during the year.

This would put a greater emphasis on drafting strategy for the whole season, can't 'reset' after game 50 or so,if you are off to a bad start.

I think it would make the initial draft much more important.

As an example, when the rare case of me having a really good team running away from the division, I will look and see who I may meet in the playoffs and make a player move or two to shore up the post season. This could not happen with an expanded taxi squad. This comes from the old John Kruez's tournaments, where you went with who you drafted and that was it.

I like everything about the game except for the RP's pitching over 300 innings. That is not realistic and needs to be changed. God bless!

While I agree that relief pitchers pitching 300 innings is by no means realistic I rarely see a relief pitcher pitch that many innings (maybe I am wrong). Also, I do not think a relief pitcher pitching 200 innings is as unrealistic as it may seem. Starting pitchers can pitch 250 innings, why can't a relief pitcher pitch 200 innings? True it doesn't happen anymore, but it used to. And the reason they don't do it anymore is because of the player salaries and not wanting the player to get hurt...

What is really unrealistic is a MLB team playing 162 games with 24 players. Mandatory larger rosters would be a simple fix... I suppose limiting relief pitcher innings would be an easy fix as well.

This thread has a lot of good ideas. I wish it were in the "Wish List and Suggestions" forum so SOM would consider some of these things.

Have you found any responsiveness to that forum?

People essentially do not go there because that forum has seemingly been ignored, with the only responses coming from the few other people that read it.

Love your ideas about "never pinch hit" etc. Also, per game lineups, not three games. Also, for the bullpen, allow HAL to be more aggressive for lefty right matchups. Right now you have to game the game in order for a 9R or 9L to KINDA work, and even then they face a large amount of opposite sided hitters. I have to have at least 6-7 pitchers who can relieve to KINDA make this work out and I still have some pitchers that are 9R, pitching to a significant amount of left handed batters and vice versa.

Second, on improving injury rating. Especially the 94 strike season players, Matt Williams, Frank Thomas, Jeff Bagwell and others.
