Guys like McCuthchen will ALWAYS be productive. That wasn't the point. The point is that if you can reach the playoffs with Joey "Inj 5" Votto as your highest priced player, why would you even want McCutchen? Is one McCutchen worth three Vottos?

On my last team, one Revere was almost worth one McCutchen. Knowing that now, it's hard for me to justify spending up. I wholeheartedly encourage others to do so however!

I didn't make my point clear apparently. I was agreeing wholeheartedly with the theme of this thread. my 10+ million dollar star is giving me everything I could hope for, including my best ever differential. still I've been hovering a little above .500 all season. just too many sacrifices made to fit that huge salary.

Oh, now you've done it, J-Pav, I'll never see Parrino after the draft again. He's up to 25, by the way.

I didn't realize it at the time, but I have him as a back-up on one of my own teams. He's 0-100 with 0 home runs!

You also didn't mention that having Parrino start v. RHP at .50 allows me to have Trout!

And I don't know if it's a championship team or not, but it's a playoff one, in a real tough league.

Here's the disconnect though:

24 Parrino's at 25 homers each = 600 home runs for $12 mil vs 1 Trout at 40 homers = 40 homers for $12 mil.

Disclaimer: I just picked up Trout from the FA pool in my last league. I should pick up 24 Parrino's!
