Radagast,

I see that prison had little effect on your ethical sensibilities, as only someone who is ethically challenged would even entertain the underhanded chicanery you presume I will engage in.

I would much rather be in a league with Stretcher than this guy, except I will take pleasure from blocking his playoff birth...

Do what you want. Gibson or Griffey goes down for 15, swap 'em out. That's what the extra cap space is for.

Let's set the record straight on Richard B. Milter's (aka Radagast Brown) league messages as he is attempting to paint a very one sided picture, and he opened himself for this by posting my private message to him on this thread.

Here is his initial message. This after the first series when Schmidt goes down for 15. To fully set the context, I unfriended this fellow a couple of years ago on Facebook and he avoids mentioning me by name when quoting my post on a recent board thread. I did not interpret his post as an expression of good will and responded in what I believe was the provacative intent of his post.

Bruce,
tough break about Mike Schmidt. I guess you will have to drop Mike Schmidt for Mike Schmidt until Mike Schmidt gets better.

Bruce, I was not accusing you of doing something underhanded. The way I understood it this was part of the game at this cap level. I was told this was common practice among these leagues..

I went to prison for marijuana possession, I have no shame in that, I would think a true Druid would understand....

Richard

ps. If anything my message was a comment on the problems of an unlimited cap .... Isn't dropping one card for another card of the same player allowed in these leagues?

(At this point I was wondering if I had misinterpreted his intent.)

Bruce,
If anything it seems it would be silly of you not to drop one Schmidt card for another...???? That's funny that you thought you could shame me about having been to prison. I am proud to have survived prison and stood tall in my beliefs. Many people in my position snitch, I stood tall like a man...

Didn't you quit the game years ago only to come back under another alias? Aren't you the one always complaining like a little girl that the game isn't perfect... I am going to enjoy this, You know nothing about me... Some Druid, you probably haven't been to the woods in years old man...

No doubt you wasted mommy and daddy's money on this credit. You have no chance of competing in this league. There will be no further messaging between us. Run your mouth all you like.

What are the "unwritten rules" regarding dropping one player's card for another card of the same player? I am getting mixed messages from the commissioner. Thanks

Your daughter must be so proud... 1500 teams, that is four years of college paid for.. What's your winning percentage? Same as mine? You would think after 1500 teams you would have gotten a little better- guess not.

You are correct technically. It is not against the rules and nothing is EVER formally stated regarding the practice by those of us who create these leagues, but I do think it is gaming the game and view it as an unsavory practice - which is my personal opinion. There were some lengthy and heated discussions four or five years ago about this with no real consensus emerging but a lot of polarized feelings resulted. I don't do it myself but others can do as they wish. I also don't have an issue with dropping one WIllie Mays card for a different card of his. My objection is to dropping a guy when he is injured, using a lesser card of the player's for the duration of the injury, and then bringing the original card back once the injury is over. But again it is not illegal, just questionable in the eyes of many managers.

Well you might want to let the others know your rules because there is definitely some confusion... What was this league entitled again? Oh yeah, "Live Draft Done Right"...

After this Mr. Milter decided to present his case to the entire community as is seen in the foregoing posts.

Everyone has an opinion which probably devalues most. But since they are free here is mine for what it is worth.

If you wanted to limit whatever you would set a cap that effectively limited unlimited transactions. So unless the league is created as a private league with rules posted requesting agreement before being given the password then there are no rules. You can trot across the middle of the diamond right up the pitcher mound, stomp on the rubber and skip down the other side. Steal with a 20 run lead if you want. Only limitation is your imagination unless someone specifically states up front there is a rule against it.

Swapping one card for another during the season carries a cap penalty hit. The only reason for having a 999 mil cap is so those cap hits can be made meaningless. So the mere act of creating a league with no meaningful cap is declaring anything goes here. No need to ask what the rules are. If there are rules they should be stated in a league signup forum for a private league or at the very least in the league summary or league name.

As long as we are talking about unwritten rules might as well throw out one of mine. They, like opinions, are free.
Private messages should remain private. That is why they call them private.

Want to clarify. There are practices that 999 mil cap makes possible that I would consider gaming the game. Probably best to avoid argument and keep those opinions to myself. But in general I would think knowing they are for the most part only made possible by the excessive cap would tend to assume league creator knew of possibilities for gaming and had no objections.

That being said....
Time to ask though what the "official" rules of a league are is before you join.
Time to object to gaming the game practices and declare them illegal is before/as the league is created. Simply put any restrictions you think should exist in the description. Then the rules are no longer unwritten and all who join should be expected to abide by the written rules.

That does bring up something I have never considered. Is there a limit to how long the description can be? Are we only limited to a couple lines or could we quote War And Peace in there if we wanted?

This is the thing, I actually I AGREE with Petrosian or The Last Druid or whatever he is calling himself when he is not quitting in a huff and insulting everyone... My point was, if he has played in 1500 leagues and is the commissioner of this league, don't you think he should let everyone know HIS RULES in advance?

This guy has serious problems... Instead of answering my questions about his rules he insults me and brags how I have no chance... So let's review, I have played an ATG8 999 live draft format ONCE, he has played hundreds of times and yet instead of just answering my question about the rules he tells me I shouldn't even compete because I have no chance...

This is the same guy who years ago accepted my Facebook Friend Request... All I wanted to know was the rules, this guy makes I. Stretcher look like a picnic at the park....

Again Bruce, or Druid or Petrosian has the timeline more than a little screwed up. I started this thread at least a week before joining his league... When I asked him what rules he was using, he shoots back some message about underhanded chicanery, prison, ethics, MY PARENTS??? Where does this guy get off? I am dead serious this guy makes I. Stretcher look like a diplomat!
