The expansion era started in 1969 with the intro of the Expos, Brewers, Padres and Royals. So if a player played in 1969 or later,he is eligible, but you can use a card from an earlier year.
Example, Don Drysdale played in 1969 so I can use the Drysdale '64 card.

The commish posted earlier and said that he won't be checking in until tomorrow morning, so I will answer the question the way I believe he intended the rules to be.

According to SOM, the expansion era started in 1967. Cards dated 1966 and earlier, going back to 1947, are the Post WWII set. Cards dated 1967 and later are the expansion era set.

My understanding is that the commish wants to limit the set of cards used to expansion era cards only., based on those players on the expansion era drop down menu rosters for each team. Even though Drysdale was on the Dodgers in 1969, he does not have a card in the expansion era set, so he would be ineligible.

The same would be true for Maris and Mantle of the Yanks, who both played in 1968, but have no expansion era card, so their post WWII cards cannot be used by the Yankees. Unfortunately, the same would be true for Willie Mays, who played for the Giants and Mets into the '70s, but has no expansion era card, making him ineligible to play for the team I manage, the Giants.

Hank Aaron and Frank Robinson have expansion era cards, but those cards as not as good as their Post WWII cards. Again, my understanding is only expansion era cards may be used.

Let's hear what the commish has to say about this in the morning. - Bernie

No, I don't think that's correct. I believe that all cards used have to have the EXP designation on them. So to take your example in reverse, Rusty Staub played for Houston in the 60s but doesn't have a Houston card. Nevertheless If someone took Houston and use one of Staub's other EXP era cards.
Similarly I believe that the only Hank Aaron card that can be used is from 1969, and not any of the other 3 cards he has from the 50s.
Now that's just my interpretation. We'll have to wait for the Commish of course...

The only players available to be drafted are the ones listed in the drop down menus from the exp teams. If this has caused any confusion I apologize. Thanks guys your interpretation of my intentions were correct.

Looks like the league is full so letting everyone know the PW is twist draft your teams and lets have at it. I also note a good many familiar faces, ones that have been kicking my ace in various other leagues. I'm feeling like a lone Moose surrounded by a pack of wolves.

Okey-dokey. So I think I'm clear. $125m w/DH. The only players I can put on my Braves team AD card are EXP ERA cards; players who played for the Braves. I'll work on my team and get it in sometime this morning.

Does it have to be a stadium that your team used, or can you choose any stadium from 1967 to the present?

I think that's an excellent question, as there really are not a lot of expansion era home stadiums choices for most teams.

Actually, Bernie, I don't know if I agree with that. There are 77 Expansion era stadiums available. And if we have to choose a stadium from our own teams, (which would be my preference personally), only then there are 33, or almost 3 per team. Every franchise has at least 2 to choose from.

2-3 stadium choices per team does not seem like a lot to me, compared to how many we usually have. Perhaps we should use the entire Post WWII + Expansion era stadium choices for each franchise to give each franchise more choices in matching a stadium to our team. After all, the teams did call the Post WWII stadiums home at one time or another.

I don't have as great a knowledge of the stadiums as some of you guys do so I'll defer to your expertise. My assumption was you would choose a park from your team 1967 - 2011. I assumed that each team would have a park available. If this isn't the case then I would think you would chose a park as close as possible to that time frame.

Just read BDWards edited response and I'm ok with using the entire stadiums from the post WW2 set. However it has to be a stadium your team played in.
