Rules for the 15th annual Horace Mann Invitational.
Rules:
This year’s HM Invitational will be a “two-team combo” league. Each of us will build a team from two 2015 MLB teams. Here are the specific rules:
Two-Round Draft
There will be a 2-round serpentine draft, where you will pick one MLB team with each pick. The draft order was determined randomly from one of our other Strat friends (for this randomization, our numbers are the order we signed up below). There is no “clock” on making your draft pick on the weekend, but you have up to two hours per pick between the hours of 9am-9pm Eastern starting on Monday (if we are still picking).
Your Stadium and Division
You must use a stadium from one of your two drafted teams. After you pick your second team, figure out which stadium you will use and let me know (preferably by email). Once everyone declares their stadium I will set the divisions according to the real-life division of that stadium. For example, if you pick a New York stadium, you will be in the Strat-O-Matic “East” division; if you pick a California stadium, you will be in the “West” division. If there is not an even split, I will move a few teams according to the geographic location of their selected stadium.
Your Players
You have complete access to all players on your two teams. No trading. No picking up players who aren’t carded to your two teams.
Your Team Name
It is requested that for your team name Location, you use the city of the team whose stadium you picked and the Nickname of your other team. For example, if you had the Cubs and Red Sox, you would be the “Boston Cubs” if you use Fenway and “Chicago Red Sox” if you playing at Wrigley. This makes it very easy to scan the league and know who is who. (Foggy Rule: Rob can end his team with his traditional “Z”, such as the “Boston CubZ”.)
September Call-Ups
After Game 120, you can call up more players to help you down the stretch. See team payroll details below.
Your Team Payroll
The league will be created with unlimited ($999m) salary cap. However for Games 1-120, you can never exceed $100 million roster value and cannot have more than 25 players on your roster at any time. After Game 120, your roster value and roster size are unlimited (however you are still limited to the players carded for your two teams).
Injuries
We will be using the new Super-Advanced Injury System. With this system, pitchers will be injured more frequently (like hitters are). Therefore, pay attention to the pitcher injury ratings. This is more realistic, and we will be okay as we have “extra” pitching available to call up from our extra players carded to our two teams.
Other Settings
DH, no waivers, 5/10/20% drops. Standard player set (no "unleashed" Jarrett Parker and friends).
