And while you're at it, it's Rusney Castillo, not Rumsey. Rumsey sounds like an affectionate nickname for the town drunk... 8-)

Looking at the league rules and having difficulty understanding rule 13. Understand not trading draft picks you do not own but do not understand what the example is telling me. Appreciate any clarification of the rule and example anyone can provide. Thanks.

13) You cannot trade draft picks you do not own. for example: If you acquired thru trades a 2nd, 3rd and 4th round pick and traded away your 7th and 9th pick you must cut at least 12 players so that you have the 9th round pick you have traded.

It will come in play next spring (our second year)

our roster size is 30 each spring we cut between 10 and 15

if through trades you acquire 3 picks so you have one in each round plus the 3 you traded for say in rounds 6,7,and 10
If you cut 10 players your ten picks would be one in rounds 1,2,3,4,5,TWO in 6, Two in 7, and one in round 8...
you cant' trade away round 9 or the 2 in round 10.....as they are forfeited as you would have hit your 30

if you cut 13 players you are good....as you had 13 picks, if after the 10th round your roster was at 29 you get a pick in round 11 ....

(it rarely happens I once traded away a 9th and acquired a boatload of picks so had to offer up a 7th to my trade partner so that I didn't have to cut some folks to get to that 9th rounder that I had traded.)

hope that helps a bit...

The rule is in place because most of the time the draft pick gets traded first, then subsequent trades make it nonexistent. It's a necessary but painful chore for the commish to keep track of this.
