Seriously?

PostTue Feb 23, 2016 8:50 am

I've been in two leagues, and both leagues seem to be filled with teams that load up on about 90% salary in hitting and 10% towards pitching...

Is that what Strat-o-matic baseball has become? Just loading up on 8 guys who can smash the ball and having zero faith in pitching?

Made possible by the out of control ballpark effects.

Yep, especially in ATG, my suggestion is to form or join a private pitching league, with restrictions on ballparks and/or budget for hitters.

Which salary cap are you playing at? 80 mil leagues are usually littered with smallball teams.

I've had success with heavy pitching teams using Griffth '41 or Astrodome '71 @ $60, $80, & $100 leagues. 4 top of the line *SPs, plus 1s on defense and high obp...almost never fails...

i think if you formed a league with a 10-10-10-10 or close to that park for every team, it would neutralize the effects? i don't know that?

I believe the numbers for neutralizing the ball park effects would be 8-8-8-8. Look at the chevy seasons that were computer generated off just the basic stats and you will see that most common location for HR# is on an otherwise HR 1-8 readout. Though that analysis was done many years ago and did not cover cards from all chevy seasons. Pretty sure though that would be accurate.

When the ballpark effects were first introduced in 1985, average was 8-8-10-10
Don't know what it is now, but this is what I still use. Easy to figure too, 2 on base chances for singles and half the diamonds for on base and double the diamonds for total bases

How do the ballpark effects work? THe lower the # the more pitcher friendly? or vise versa?
