LF or RF

PostThu Feb 25, 2016 6:43 pm

What is the most important position between LF and RF defensively speaking. If you had to have a 4 out there, which one would he hurt you the least in? I know arm strength is important especially in RF, but how important is it really in LF? Is a 4 range player that much worse than a 3 in either spot? Thanks for your opinions and feedback........

LF and RF are identical odds as far as Range ratings in Strat in terms of OPS allowed. (if both are 4, or any identical rating for that matter)--if one has a better arm put him in RF. As for a 4 they give up 24.3 in OPS (card chances) per game, a 3 gives up 13.5 OPS, a 2 gives up 6.3 OPS and a 1 zero.--(this assumes a 0 error rating) - (a 5 gives up 35.1 by the way)

The only difference defensively is throws to 3B when a runner is trying to take an extra base--generally the longest throw from the outfield on the diamond is from RF to 3B and the shortest from LF to 3B---the RF gets 2 added to his arm, and LF gets 2 subtracted from his arm on throws to 3B. (throws to 2b and Home are not altered).
