In recent years my being a Philadelphia sports fan equates to me rooting for my teams to lose.
So this may be what is driving me to come up with ways to encourage teams to win as much
as possible.
I think the following rule proposal is simple and provides an interesting benefit for winning teams.
I'm proposing the Injured Reserve List (IRL):
Teams that won 81 games or more in a regular season the previous year are eligible to place a player on
the Injured Reserve List (IRL). If a team won 81 games or more in both regular seasons, then they could place 2 players on the IRL.
Prior to a the FA draft all eligible teams must announce who they are placing on the IRL.
Once a player is placed on the IRL, that player may not be placed on a roster for the entire year.
IRL players may be traded, but they still must stay on the IRL for that entire year.
Owners only make their IRL selections once per year prior to the FA draft.
If an owner trades an IRL player that owner does not get to select another player for the IRL.
Any player owned by a team may be placed on the IRL.
At the end of the year an IRL player may stay on the IRL if the team is eligible to place players on the IRL, dropped, or
placed on that team's roster.
- IRL players may not be placed on a teams Prospect List.
Example.
Last year the following teams won 81 games during a season and would be eligible to have 1 or 2 players on the IRL:
Steve (1)
Roger (2)
Neil (1)
Ray (2)
John (2)
Rick P. (2)
Bill (1)
Jay (1)
Russ (1)
Please place your vote before the FA Draft.
Thanks for your time,
- Jay
