I went for this idea (dont steal it)

Guys who cannot get injured and who play incredible defense. Mixed with SP's who have low K/IP ratios.

no offense, but that team looks like a last place team. you need to rework the line-up, your starters and your bullpen. poorly built for that park.

Read the article. I think that approach plays better in real life where more ground balls to a good infield enhances results than in Strat where there is a fixed number of fielder dependent plays for the various defensive positions. So a great SS for example provides no more benefit to Randy Jones than it does to Randy Johnson.

In strat the reduced K on a card could translate in to more sacrifice flies or more baserunner advancement on gb(C). Could also translate to more double plays for the cards that have gb(A) on them instead of gb(C). But those pitchers with those readouts still get that benefit if they are strikeout pitchers.

Keep us posted throughout the season as your team unfolds. Last place or first place could be an interesting experiment to follow. I love these type team experiments.

A great thing about this game is that you can use these pitchers' cards without having to look at their brutal 1970s hair styles.

You don't need backups at 3B or SS since Buddy Bell and Tony Fernadez can NOT get hurt, so those backup players will NEVER see the field.

I hate to be the one to burst bubbles but there is just a ton of salary wasted on this team. If your starters never get hurt you are wasting money on their backups.

As novel as your idea would appear it is extremely wasteful. You are going to be paying for a whole bunch of players who NEVER play and never see the field. And in addition you are paying extra for guys who never get hurt, which is not always a bargain...

Maybe you can make those starting pitchers work, though sometimes lefties struggle in these all all-star leagues...

I wish you the best of luck but also implore you to make some changes. Having 9 position players who never get hurt is actually a horrible idea when it comes to making the most of the money you have.

When I read the above post by the guy who said, "It looks like a last place team", I thought to myself, that is rude, but now I see that he was not being rude, just honest...

Your theory about pitchers with low strikeouts very well COULD work but having all position players who can not get hurt means you are wasting millions on backup players who will never contribute. It would be one thing, MAYBE if you could use your backups as defensive replacements but as you stated you already went for good fielding starters. This is wasteful.

Cromartie and Alex Johnson are a waste of $$$. Andy Hawkins too.

I have built this type of bulletproof team loaded with defensive studs and as someone else stated, they simply will not generate enough offense to win games consistently.

For example: Callison will really struggle to produce for you, mark my words. You need guys with a decent OBP and that is not Callison. He does o.k. in a bombers park, but not in Petco.

not to be discouraging...I actually use injury proof teams frequently with success,
but you are in Petco and have some players who do not fit so well imo.

I agree, there is no need to spend over the minimum of $500k on backup fielders.
drop Hawkins 1.00 M for Ruthven 0.5 (or someone similar) plus

if this is a DH league, you do not need the .95 alex johnson (convert to the .5 version)

if it is no DH, then dump Cromartie 1.93 also to save a lot.

either way, you will have another $1 M to spend.

my opinion is Maz, Bell, and Callison do not have enough natural HR or OBP for a Petco team and you likely need to upgrade to at least 1 better RP

Alex Johnson and Warren Cromartie are the platoon DH's. Besides the 8 starters and the 2 DH's, no bench player over the minimum money.

Interesting commentary and I dont agree. My record over shows I'm not that good at Strat.
