BP 8?

I forget what BP 8 7 etc means on the hitters? Please help

Ball Park 8 (7 etc) Homeruns, as in the number of chances they have per side perhaps?

Ballpark ratings are listed 1 2 3 4
The first value is the singles rating for left hand batters.
The second value is the singles rating for right hand batters.
The third value is the HR rating for left hand batters.
The fourth value is the HR rating for right hand batters.

However, since the ballpark charts have column headings telling you that I cannot help but wonder if root/context of your question is not what we are assuming. Doing computer support when someone asks a question with this obvious of an answer I often question if I understood the question right.

I was asking about the ratings of the hitters( 8 being the highest). I thought 8 was good but even in a good home run park Chris Davis will lose a few Homers if he rolls a 10 so a high number doesnt seem so good

you need to clarify what you are talking about then. In the context of a hitter card a rating of 8 7. Where are you getting these ratings.

Hitters do not have HR ratings that are used by the game engine other than the Power N or Power W. N means he can get ballpark homers and W means ballpark homers become singles.

In the ratings book there is a catagory called BP. A better gets w thru 8 against lefties and righties. I always thought 8 was great but now not so sure if it turns a HR into a fly 0ut.

It is sum of the BP chances of the card. The maximum is 8. (You would need a 1-20 park to max out 8 chances)

Look closer and you will see that some of those 8 BP home runs, represented on the cards with a # fall on fly ball readings turning an out in to a possible HR.

Basically as Scumby said to maximize your 8 ballpark home runs you need a max HR ballpark with a 1-20 rating.
Flip side if you have chosen a pitcher park with low ballpark HR ratings you want to minimize the number of high BPHR players since you lose some of their value. So one might argue looking for good players with low ballpark HR when in a pitcher park.

You can also use the information on which # rolls potentially remove HRs and which potentially add HRs to calculate which players benefit or are restricted the most from a bomber park verses a pitcher park.
