Good article. Here is my personal perspective/spin. My boyhood heroes on the Big Red Machine HOF and multiple WS rings. Bench-Perez-Morgan. Made less combined than about what a current low budget team pays a single #2 or #3 starter. We got change left so we could also pay Rose and perhaps a starting pitcher and some decent bench players.
