I am ready to enter my but there is a guy on the Pirates from last season that I want to put on my draft list. If the new owner takes the Pirates again I would assume he can pick from their keepers and that guy will probably be kept. But if the Pirates aren't taken I want to have that guy on my draft list. I guess what I want to say is that I don't want to enter the league until the new owner is in and picks a team.

We've broken the cards down by how many years out of the five they have with each franchise.
1) ALL 5 = what we're calling a Core5 guy and can only play for that franchise
2) 4/5 on one franchise = Core4. That franchise has first rights and the player cannot be auto drafted by the other franchise. once waivers start, they are available to be picked up.

All other players are available to all the franchises that they are carded to. Trades are allowed but the players can only be traded to teams they are carded to.

So Core5 players are protected automatically, Core4 are protected through the autodraft, all the others are not protected but have limited teams that can take them. At the end of the season you claim at most 20 keepers of the players that ended the year on your roster. Those players can be any Core5-1 if they were on your roster you have the right to protect them for the next season.
