Some kind of record?

I recently finished a league where I won 113 games and did not make the finals. There was another division winner with 103 wins and he did not make the finals either. The finals was won by a team that finished 28 games behind me in my own division.

I have not played hardly any mystery leagues but was surprised by my win total. I would strongly be in favor of increasing the semi finals series to 7 games rather than the current format of best of 5 games.

What was your best win season that did not make it to the finals?

I would definitely support the move to 7 game series.

The real life 1954 Cleveland Indians won a 111 games and did not win a championship.

There have been many college and NFL teams have gone undefeated without winning a Championship .

The St.Louis Cardinals won a World Series with only about 82 regular season wins.

116 wins. Lost in 5 games. Waaay back in 2002 or 2001.

116 wins is really impressive but I did not even make it to the finals. That was my point. I have heard others comment about the 100+ win hex and in a best of five series anything can happen. I would like to see the playoff format for mystery leagues changed from best of 5 to best of 7 for the semifinals series.

How about on the other side of the coin? Had a 83 win team win a championship--

Not sure if playing best of 7 would have helped you in this case. The team you lost to had the best offense in the league and they came to play in that series. They eventually would cool off in the finals and lose but this is what I love about sports . . . bottom line is you still have to play the game. No matter if you are a powerhouse team or a huge underdog, anything can happen! I would be upset too if that were to happen to me, but on the other side it would be an awesome achievement beating a huge favorite. Anyways, great season! Bittersweet as it was.
