Page2 AL Only Keeper Season 13 Drafting

I'm not clear on the timeline of the rule. Will this go into effect next season? And will we be able to keep players who are injured this season? or starting next season for them as well?

For example lets use Pollock (even though he is NL) would his owner be able to keep him next year if he is uncarded? Or will we start it with 2017 injuries?

Pollack could be kept but someone like Darvish could not be kept.

In that case I am voting no in both leagues because there is information available that is affecting decisions within the current season which is already started. And in my opinion its never a good idea to change the rules in the middle of anything. This should be an off season change.

Here is a link to my google doc with NL keeper notes, (even though it shows quotes from the AL League it just happened to be the doc that I had open at the time) while going back over things it shows that the last edit was made 5 days ago which would have been on 4/5/16 Schwarber played his last game on 4/7/16.

So I had this copied I just hadn't posted it yet. Think what you will of that but I just didn't start on this after Schwarber was hurt. I wasn't trying to end run anything here just the rate of the copying and the posting didn't time out on the same day. I will list your no vote on the ballot.

Calbatross brought this idea up during the draft and a few others said they would be in favor of it. If a player you own gets hurt and misses most of the year and thus doesn't get a card that you should be able to keep him.

If we did this we would just play with one less (or up to 3 slots down). So for example, I would have been able to keep Yu Darvish but I would have only been able to have 26 active players/cards on my roster. By SOM rules, we have to have 24 players/cards on our team so I guess we could keep up to 3 injured players on our team. To fill out that final draft slot I would say to just draft some .50 guy from the NL and then cut him before the season started and play with 24 players.

If during the season you wanted to cut someone you had thought about keeping on injured reserve I would say to announce/post that in the ILC as well as a league email and you could pick up someone from the FA pool if you felt that was a better move for your team.

So let's hold a vote on this point in the ILC.

I'll vote yes. I think it was me who originally suggested to page 2 that we just use the strat active rosters to keep track of our actual keeper league rosters, early on in the league. It was a simple and fun way to do it, I thought. But there are flaws , like players that aren't carded in a particular year. Pitchers are particularly prone to this occurring. It really doesn't make sense to lose the rights to a player like darvish just because he has surgery and misses a whole year. My 2 cents.

Being able to keep an injured player has passed so an example of what this means: Darvish can't be kept Bird can be kept the owner that has Bird will have to play the season with 26 active players.

I can't see why we just can't have a 28 Man Roster which includes your IR Keeper. You still get to play with a 27 man Roster which would be available to everyone. You still have to drop to 15 prior to the draft. Just an idea!
