Mediocre Manager 2.0

PostWed Apr 13, 2016 5:02 pm

Long time card and dice player. New to 365, learning on the go, trying to read advice threads.

I have the following starters : Price, Cole, Bungarner and Keuchel. I always win 1, lose 2, win 1, lose 2.

Know I made some mistakes but thought pitching would be better. Very inconsistent.

Thanks, TMAK

I think the pitching has been very good---though you should be a game or two over .500 looking at your run differential--

It looks like the offense has been the weak spot to me. In your park, Batting averages are going to be down with almost non-existent BP singles--I don't play this type of park often, but I think you need to hit more HR than your opponent in Low BP singles parks that are above average HR parks.

Someone with a lot of success in these type parks needs to chime in about the type of offensive cards that work best in a 1,1/11,11 park.

For me, that 's the toughest type of ballpark. It's a pitchers park, but you need on base with power

Three things:

(1) 3s at both SS and 2b is problematic. To the extent your pitching is underperforming given how much you spent on pitching that's the reason; remember that's 13 out of the total of 30 X chances on the pitcher's card.

(2) This is essentially a baby Great Americsn Park in my mind. You need a lot of power and you don't have much power;
(3) And you lost 7 million in salary due to changes--that's a lot.

Thanks guys. Looking at other threads I guess my big mistake was drafting Rizzo?

Here's my other team, which I thought was good offense, decent pitching but can never win a series.

Money management is lacking. The money spent on Clark or Cooper should of gone to a decent hitting 1 fielding SS like Vizquel. You will have problems winning consistently with a bad fielding SS. If you are going to go cheap at SS at least make it a slick fielder.

For the other team/
No, Rizzo was ok. Also Crawford was good now your SS is terrible D with no offense.. You big mistake was in money management. You have a stud 4 man rotation. These should be set at least F8 so they stay in the game. Finnegan and Kimbrel were a huge waste of payroll. With a high price rotation you want the 5th starter to be a .50 SP only who hopefully never pitches. You should have set up guy (RP2 or RP3) to eat up most of your bullpen innings with a good closer (Rosenthal with C6 is ok). I would rather spend more on the setup guy with a higher fatigue rating. You should of had more power guys in your lineup -the problem is offense due to lack of payroll.

echoing what has been said above, too much money spent on pitching. rosenthall has barely pitched, returning you nothing on the investment. there are plenty of good bargains on offense in this set for your next team.
money management aside you got a little hosed on your bp homers. your opponents have hit on 47% of their opportunities and you've hit only 33% of yours. even that up and you would be closer to a .500 team.
