Rules - If, after the free agent draft, you don't have enough players to complete the autodraft, you can select a 0.75 mil player to qualify for the autodraft, and you keep rights to that 0.75 player for the season. So, suppose your franchise only has one C and you don't draft a free agent C; then you can pick up a 0.75 mil free agent C. I've revised the player list to show how many FAs are assigned to each franchise. The free agent draft will be non-serpentine and draft order based on reverse of winning % in this theme (including 60s, 70s and up to game 81 in 80s).

Divisions will attempt to match 1996 divisions, at least matching up AL and NL as much as possible. Each team plays in their real life home stadium.

I'm going to open up for sign-ups for fill ins and possibly opening up league to 24 teams if there is sufficient interest. The aign-up order is important since we'll order franchise picks in order of signing up (free agent draft order based on winning percentage of selected franchise in the 90s). The current 12 teams will have first dibs on franchises - draft on league emails.

If any team doesn't have the necessary players to complete the autodraft, they will select 0.75 mil free agents to fill any needed positions. So, if the Red Sox do not make any pre-draft trades and select 2 hitters as their free agents, they will select 3 free agent 0.75 mil pitchers for the autodraft and those 3 pitchers remain as exclusive-rights players for the Red Sox unless they are traded.

Also, the Red Sox are not allowed to make any pre-draft trades that result in fewer pitchers. For example, they can't trade Clemens for Frank Thomas because then they would only have 6 pitchers. They could trade for more pitchers. This rule is to prevent teams from making trades to allow them more 0.75 free agents.

Playing normal-rules SOM, we get used to teams loaded with superstars (especially in the Mystery Format). This league will have much less talent on every team. As a result, superstars (like Garciaparra) will put up superstar numbers and regular players will have decent numbers because the opposing teams also have regular players rather than a roster full of superstars.
