At the expense of throwing more shade...at some point a few years back the league outlawed "players to be named later" because we were sometimes engineering "take my good players this season, and then give me your good players next season" trades that blew balance. Like I used it to trade Lincecum for Dickey, in Lincecum's good year, with the understanding that we would swap them AGAIN the following year, in Dickey's good season. So that's not legal anymore.

I don't think "future considerations" is illegal as long as it isn't a PLAYER that is going to be named later, and as long as it isn't a trade that involves giving your stuff away now in order to get stuff back in a future season.

No, that's not what it was. I was trying to figure a way to bring the #23 pick back into play. My plan was to do the 3 for 9 deal first. Then the 'future consideration' was to give the #23 to alk for nothing when it became available. Obviously it did not work.

I certainly wasn't tryin to do anything dodgy. But the rule is silly and should be changed in the offseason. You should be able to accumulate and trade as many picks as you want prior to the draft, so long as you end up with the legal number of players after the draft.

Ok so are we waiting for alk58 to pick? I think I know who I want to pick when it's my turn.
