4 Halves, 4 ATG, Plus 2 Extras

PostSun May 15, 2016 8:10 pm

Here is a interesting league idea that the folks at SOM gave me the okay to try, so here goes:

10 round draft. 200 mil, Frenzy, 5/10/20 drops. Serpentine draft. 1-12, 12-1.

We will draft 4 half teams. You will pick 2 teams pitching staffs and 2 teams hitters. (i.e. you draft the Dodgers pitching, you get all the pitchers that are carded to the Dodgers this card set).

Once you have selected a half team, you will be able to pick an ATG that played for your half team. The ATG player had to have played for the team, he does not need to be carded on that team. (i.e. Babe Ruth can be picked by the Braves hitters, Ty Cobb can be selected by the A's hitters). We will use Baseball-Reference.com to verify if the player played for that team.

The last 2 rounds of the draft will allow for to pick 1 more hitter and 1 more pitcher from the half that did not get picked. That will 10 rounds of picks. Draft will be in the Individual League Chat.

You will have 2 pitching staffs, 2 sets of hitters, 4 ATG players and 1 more pitcher and hitter from the undrafted teams.

You will own the 4 halves for the season. Those players will not available to any other teams to pick up in free agency.

Because of the coding that will go into adding the ATG players, once you pick them, you own them.

I am in favor of trading, though I will let the league vote on it.

The strategy will come into play in round 2. Once you have picked a half team, you can pick the ATG player, though you don't have to pick the ATG player in the next round. No Negro League players (other than Satchel Paige - Cleveland and others and Chino Smith - St Louis Browns) are eligible.

No clock in the 1st and 2nd rounds and weekends. 4 hour clock in rounds 3-10. 10am -10pm EST.
