PROSPECT DRAFT

2) Effective with the 2013 season, we will hold a prospect draft after the annual free agent draft, with managers drafting up to 2 prospects per year -- prospects are those players who have never received a card yet and draft sequence will be random and serpentine.

Random number generator was run in the main 20xx Strat forum and numbers have been keyed to the basic FA draft sequence:

BASIC PROSPECT DRAFT SEQUENCE

1. padrenurgle1
2. jodynadu
3. Dr.Publix
4. jflatour99
5. tcochran
6. WJS6768
7. thechamp87
8. alk58
9. lakeviewdave
10. CATom's replacement
11. tpiercersn
12. JMP1

Many prospects have been traded. These will be noted when the rosters are next updated.

I'd suggest allowing the new manager to bulk out his roster without penalizing the rest of the league. Most suggestions have been decent. I'd say:

- Allow him to cull up to 2 players from each drop list prior to the FA draft
- Allow him to drop/add as many times as he wants after the final round of the FA draft
- Allow him to fill out his prospect list after round 2 of the prospect draft is completed this first year. If he has a couple of open prospect slots at the end of the prospect draft, let him bulk it out to max. In other words, give him the standard 2 picks, plus 2 more at the end, if he has the holes.
- If this league has a supplemental draft between the play-throughs, let him have the #1 supplemental pick no matter what place he finishes in.

I don't think "penalizing" is the proper phrase here. In the past couple of years, CATom found willing trading partners in most of the other managers in the league (7 out of 11, It looks like). For better or worse, we all enabled his last-ditch, do-or-die efforts.

I'll try to synthesize the solutions posted so far and post an item to vote on...

BROWNFIELD RECLAMATION PROJECT

In a desperate attempt to return to the playoffs for the first time since the league's first season (which he did), CATom has traded away all of his top picks for the next two years:
1st rd pick, '15
2nd rd pick, '15
3rd rd pick, '15
1st pros '15
2nd pros '15
1st rd supp, '15
1st rd pick, '16
1st rd pros, '16
2nd rd pros, '16

In order to find a manager willing to rehabilitate the damaged CATom franchise, I suggest that the league offer the following incentives:

a. The current roster has 41 players on it, including a few diamonds-in-the-rough and a bunch a bums. Let's allow the new manager to drop as many as he wishes.

b. For the upcoming free agent draft, let's allow each team to drop players to the standard max 30/min 25 roster limits and to then protect 20 of the remaining players. The new manager may then select up to one player from the unprotected players on each active roster (or from a team's drop list, if desired).

c. After keeping some of the current players and selecting up to 11 unprotected ones from the other 11 teams, the new manager may have an active roster as large as he wishes at the start of the draft (up to a max of 40).

d. For the supplemental draft in both the 2015 and 2016 card sets, let's allow the new manager to drop up to 3 players (instead of 2) and have an automatic, extra 1st pick prior to the start of the rest of the supp draft.

e. The current roster has 0 prospects and the team has no prospect picks for the next two years. Let's allow an extra prospect pick at the end of each round of the next two prospect drafts.

Shall we offer this incentive package to a new manager?
