Single Season Sets!

PostThu Jan 28, 2016 8:31 pm

I know this has been requested before but any update on New Single Season sets being added to the online game like 1969?

Also, looks like 1982 is a new Single Season being offered why can't this be online as well?

I really enjoy the old school complete sets rather than playing an ATG with hundreds of players from different eras.

Cmon Strat, post them!

Heck in 1983 I was still in high school and playing a complete season with the 1982 cards and dice. Too bad I still don't have those Strat cards.

Actually, 1982 has been available for decades. What is new is it has been updated to a cadillac season. ALL season are available on the cdrom and board game all the way back in to the 1800s. Some are computer generated "chevy" cards and some are more complete and advanced "cadillac" cards that are more suitable for the super advanced rules and based on more complete researched stats.

I doubt there would be sufficient demand for individual online seasons. Yes, some would play but how much of that revenue would actually just be people shifting their spending from one of the existing games to the new game. There has to be confidence of a certain number of people playing teams who otherwise would not have.

Valen,

I haven't owned a Windows machine since Bill Clinton was president and Don Mattingly still had a back.

I don't know of any local organized Strat fests to where I could roll in person nor do I think I have the time. I play online. Put the product out there. Single Season sets from 1969, 1982, 1956 whatever. If they sell and make money great.

If they don't take them away. Put out a single season set for the year and take it away after a year. I guarantee you'll have a huge number of online managers sign up. All these Best of the 60s 70s 80s mystery games are dated and mind numbing.

You could put out a single season set and then take it away after a year and replace with another. Might make some happy.
But people are going to want to be able to see their teams from the various years. That means strat could not wipe out the server and repurpose it for a different year. They would still have to maintain that database, etc which is probably most of the storage costs of having any year available.

I would love to see it. I have been a baseball fan for over 40 years. as much as I'd love to revisit the players from my past I know I will never have the patience or time to learn all the nuances of a mystery set. I'm just never going down that road.
given my choice I'd want 78 or 79. I collected a ton of baseball cards those years and knew every player on every team.

I note on the message thread for the 1986 and 1999 games that the last message was posted back in February, nearly three months ago. I don't know if SOM sees that as a lack of interest in single seasons, but I look at it that interest has waned in those particular seasons. Personally, I don't understand what made the 1999 season so special to begin with.

I managed a few teams back when the 1969 season was available, and I thought those leagues filled up somewhat quickly. I enjoyed many of the theme leagues I participated in. Perhaps when 2019 rolls around in three years, SOM can release an updated version of that season. However, in the meantime, how about individual seasons for 1966 (50th anniversary) and 1991 (25th anniversary)??
