Great obits. Man the years are going by. Always figured there must be a better card out there for this unique kind of player back then.

"Always figured there must be a better card out there for this unique kind of player back then."

very much inclined to agree, even though that '68 ard that's here is pretty 'representative'

think his '68 card is too low on OBP to be really popular, maybe the '67 card, he hit about 10 points lower (than in '68), but w/ more homers and a few more BBs, since he is not a base stealer.

I still have a 34 ounce Dick McAuliffe model Louisville Slugger with the tapered end on the bottom instead of a knob. How it survived my childhood and all the way through high school when all my other bats broke or cracked, I'll never know. It was one of my favorite bats and McAuliffe was a favorite for his hard nosed play.
I think his 1970 card would be a good one to be in the ATG set.

I had his infielder's glove when I was growing up. Pretty nice piece of leather.

I would root for inclusion of his 1966 card. Sure he's got the dreaded 15-game attached, but a slash line of .274/.373/.509 with 23 homers in 506 plate appearances is nothing to sneeze at. Not a 2b, though, but SS/3b.
