No. This is a trade separate from the 25mil. You can look at it this way. If the draft had already concluded I could make that trade just the same.

EDIT - I misunderstood what you said....

Arenado's salary does count toward your 25 million, but not mine I don't think for reasoning above. He;s one of your picks of the +5

AFTER the draft, Casali's salary and not Arenado might count giving you a little extra for your other 4 FA's. We need claification.

But you (Jeep) are still limited to the +5 free agents, counting Arenado as one of those five. Right? So, wouldn't that mean he counts towards the $25m cap on free agents? And he wouldn't count on nymets free agent picks, although Casali will count towards nymets $25m cap and +5 free agents. At least that is how I'm seeing it, but I may be interpreting things incorrectly.

I don't think he counts against my 25mil. If I wanted to I could wait until after the draft and do the trade. It would simply be me trading one of my franchise players for a player another team drafted in the +5. And that's allowed.

I still want to draft my 5 guys for 25mil. I'm trading someone I already have as a Tampa Owner.

Keyzick trades Marte to Toronto for Revere and Estrada

Revere and Estrada are not counting toward Keyzick's 5 free agents.

Here is where I am confused Goldschmidt is $11.67, Arnedo is $7.00 and Carpenter is $6.86
11.67+7.00=$18.67
18.67+6.86=$25.53

I assumed we could not draft a FA that would exceed the $25M limit.

This is a good point. We should draft within the $25m limit - technically the Carpenter pick exceeded it. If we pick over the limit and trade players from that overage, it doesn't seem like something we'd want to be doing.

Scumby - yes that's a problem. The way to handle that IMO is to drop the last pick, the one that put him over, pick someone else and make sure that guy and his 2 other picks don't total more than 25mil.

I realize that means he has Arenado and can trade him, which is favorable for me of course, but I really think that's the way to do it. He didn't go over 25mil until that last pick.
