Strat will be announcing a new 50 card ATG addition and John has asked me to run point in getting us 'the Strat community' more involved in the process. The concept I proposed back in December was...
It seems that every time SOM announces ATG player additions there's a scramble to nominate, which has produced decent results, but to me is very single threaded and relies on first come first serve. I'd like to propose that we the community take on the responsibility to prepare and present new ATG additions by having 2-3 leads per franchise and era. This is not a new concept but one I've only seen discussed in the context that SOM should do it. Also I think its important to expand this concept outside of the 'Franchise' and incorporate the Era's as well. I anticipate there will be some obvious crossover, but we should include those managers that don't participate in franchised themed leagues and I believe having an Era component will serve as a good balance.
So here are my thoughts:
Take signups for 2-3 Ambassadors for each Franchise (Negro Leagues too) and Era (we can use the SOM designations)
Those Ambassadors would have the following objectives:
Set up an ILC to meet
Review current rosters/era
Identify holes
Produce a running priority list of desired adds
So
Phase 1: Anyone else interested in being a part of coordinating/leading a particular Franchise or Era...sign up now. We'll set that deadline for Wednesday, July 6 to avoid any holiday weekend travelers missing the opportunity.
Phase 2: Those Franchise and Era leaders will both 1) manage a running list of nominees and 2) provide a most deserving group of cards for the rest of the Strat community to vote on. This phase can also start now for those already signed up. We'll target Saturday, July 16th as the date to close nominations.
Phase 3: Strat community vote. Target date of Wednesday, July 20.
Phase 4: Forward results to Strat for card creation. Target date of Wednesday, July 27.
I realize the timing could seem drawn out but this should allow us to work out any kinks as well as be as inclusive as we can. I imagine if this format works we'll be creating a vetted list of 'the next cards' for consideration and the subsequent suggested card adds will go much faster.
Ok enough talk, let's start
