When you set pitcher preferences, you can saydon't relieve before a fatique rating of F1 through F8 and/or set a max Innings pitched limited 6 or 7. What do you find is best to do?
About how the F-rating works, you can check John Garcia's blog, an employee at SOM, who explains it here:

Specific to your question, it all depends on the depth of your bullpen. Personnally, I never use the "max 6 IP" except in a few situations, like if my starting pitcher is really bad and the bullpen really deep. The main reason I don't use the max button is because I like it when my starting pitcher gives my team a complete game in games where my team has a big lead---I feel safe to leave him there even if his F-rating goes down a bit and it allows my bullpen to have a fresh rest.
I sometimes use the option "don't relieve before F-rating" for my better starting pitchers, but I'm really cautious: I never go lower than F-6 even for my better pitchers----but I always have some good guys in the bullpen. If I were to have a bullpen of cheap sub 1M relievers, then I would perhaps go down with the F-rating as low as F-3 or F-2.
