Jimmy Wynn

I used Jimmy Wynn for the first time, and he's outperformed my expectations:

Used to be scared off by that 3 in CF, but the team has won 90 games so far. Wynn has been by leadoff hitter, scoring more runs than he has hits due to tons of walks and power. Any other experiences with the Toy Cannon, a true three outcomes guy?

Wynn is a very great value at leadoff. Too lazy to find which of my team had him, but he sure was one key player for that 95+ winning team.

The thing with his card is that he walks so much, and strikes out so much, that leading off is really where his value gets magnified. As a leadoff, most of his walks are as good as singles, his stealing numbers are among the best to reduce the risk of caught stealings--only 4 for your team, his running is fairly good at 1-15, and he can be replaced by a defensive stunt after a 4th or 5th PA.

Wynn's centerfield defense is just as good as the CF defense of... Hack Wilson. :P

We have a coach that uses all right handed batters, loves the +R's, Wynn, Alex Rodriguez, Adrian Beltre, Frank Robinson, etc. Always uses Minute Maid. He has won three of the last five world series in our Goldrush 220 mil, dh league. And he went to the finals in one of those off seasons that he lost. Guess it works. I try throwing lefties against his boys, and he has used platoons. That doesnt work either. Always hits 400+ homeruns.

Couple more of JW's favorites, Rocky Colavito, Mark McGwire, and Jack Clark.

The abundance of RH biased HR parks in your division doesn't hurt. I remember Toy Cannon hitting moon shots off of Fergie Jenkins back in 1969 and 70.

I used to use him as a #2 hitter. The power goes toward rbis, the walks score him a bunch of runs and the strikeouts avoid double plays.
