It seems the 90's game is less popular than the other mystery sets. Is this true and if so why?

The lack of popularity may stem from the stigma of steroids associated with the 90s. The same stigma that will keep a number of the greatest players (based on productivity) out of the Hall of Fame.

really steroids? I think the incredible randomness of player years. I've had guys on 4L seasons hit/ptich better against R's. Makes no sense.

coyote, Those are some fantastic winning %. Maybe I play in too many theme leagues which may hurt my overall winning % but I am around .512-.518 for all mystery sets.

As far as this thread goes I must admit that the 90s is my least favorite mystery card game. There are many reasons such as too many one year wonder players that can really make a difference if you get that one year. Insane slugging of the steroid players virtually takes small ball away as an option. Lastly, I prefer the older players which is why I hope SOM uses players prior to the 60s game instead of the 2000s should they ever decide to create a new mystery card game.

My favorite sets are 60s/70s tied for #1 most enjoyable. 80s is third only and not tied for first simply because the player pricing is way off and the player set is too small. There are around 100 players who could be in the game that they decided not to use when creating this game. Players such as: Johnny Bench, Jeff Burroughs, Richie Hebner, Rick Monday, Joe Morgan, Amos Otis, Ruben Sierra, Carl Yastrzemski, Rollie Fingers, Burt Hooton, Fergie Jenkins, Tug McGraw, Phil Niekro, Jim Palmer, Gaylord Perry, Tom Seaver and MLB network's very own Dan Pesac. There are many more but all of these players had 4 or 5 viable (enough AB or IP for a SOM card) seasons between 1980-89.

I did want to chime in on the steroids thing - there was just something about it that really did tick me off! What just plain wasn't fair was that there were players that were competing on an unequal playing field, so to speak. And we get stuck with the McGuires, Sosas, and Bonds who basically tainted themselves, the game, and set a horrible example of risking their own health for wealth............who needs it? They basically contributed nothing to the game! Just a thought.........

I dont have my numbers ready, but i know i make and produce results in the playoffs more often in the 90s leagues then in others. That being said id love to get into a 60s, 70s, or 80s dynasty league if anyone has any slots open haha

I used to enjoy the 90's but the uneven ballparks like Skydome (6-18) are way too overpowered compared to real life in my opinion. I know Ballpark ratings have been a part of stratomatic for many years but it's just not any fun for me. I'm currently 7-17 at Skydome. My records at all other ballparks are somewhat decent compared to Skydome.

The '80's have zero uneven ballparks.
