On that note, getting swept by the 2nd place team is no way to kick-off the final week of the season. I’ve played the role of the 2011 Red Sox before, and it’s NOT fun. Until last night I’d gone 9-3 since Mr. Jeep gloated about sweeping me last week.
Perhaps worth noting is that since Geoff went off to Italy with his wife, he’s gone 5-16. I guess his choice for replacement GM wasn’t the best. That or the Strat Gods really hate him for abandoning his team at such a crucial time of the season.

I was pleased to see Geoff turn over the reins for a bit. :P Now I'd like to see him back for the final push - since I only have 3 more against him. He has $12.5 mil sitting with injuries vs. Hawk.

BTW I've been 27-12 starting with my 71st birthday on Sept. 20. Thanks! :o

Hey Falcon,

You weren't the only one. :( Used to be even more chatter on the NLD thread, but not as much the last couple of leagues. Semper has been busy, but usually he's a regular contributor.

Interesting note about GB. I'd seen that he'd dropped down in the standings but I didnt' realize how poorly his team has fared.

Spidey, Happy Birthday!

Big sweep for Semper last night. :( We were trying guys, honestly.

Of course, he only gained one game as both Spider and Hawk took 2. Amazingly close race in the East.

JTJ's ratings called the very close race in the East. Twelve to go and no one can get and edge - even BigA is still hanging in barely. Close games with BigA last night - he had a chance to tie in the ninth in both games.

I too have not posted much over the last several seasons because of my extremely busy schedule the last couple years. Somehow Joe keeps convincing either me, hawk, or hawkeye to stay in the league just so there can be a patsy readily available to beat on a regular basis.
Interestingly I went on a nice 19-2 run to put me in the thick of the race before HAL decided to bring me back to reality by forcing me to play 12 straight on the road (3-6 so far) where I have been brutal all season. A crucial 3 game series on the road vs Spider tonight where I am praying to somehow salvage 1 of the 3. If I can get lucky tonight I will have a fighting chance down the home stretch since I do get to play the last 9 on my home turf.

Well, Hawk, first I'd say I like having you in the league because when you do contribute it's good. Plus you know how the NLD works. As for being a patsy, you made the playoffs in NLD 40 and you're on the cusp here. BUT, I have to say, you called the sweep by Spider. And that, combined with Semper taking two puts him 3 up with 9 to play. Big A got a little bit closer with his sweep of GB. But, your home record and having the rest at home bodes well for you. Now you *do* have the tiebreaker with Semper, but you do not with Spider. That effectively puts you 3 1/2 behind Spider, but only 2 1/2 behind Semper.

Meanwhile in the Central Falcon's squad has gone 2-8 to allow Dale to creep back into the picture. Four is a lot to make up in 9 games and they do not play each other either. They are 12-12 against each other, but I don't have easy access to the run dif so I don't know who goes in the case of a tie.

In the West: We play Semper next with a chance to clinch first and the best record.

My bunch were lucky to take three from the Hawk - especially in the third game with two HRs off Familia's card. I really don't want to face Semper in the semis (4-8 vs. his guys), but I'll take that vs. missing the playoffs. ;)

Did someone say home runs off of Familia??????? Woo Hoo! Conor Gilaspie, who would have thunk??? Way more predictable than Encarnacion hitting a home run right????? ;) ;)

HAL hates me!

Yeah, pretty amazing. Do you know who has the run differential between you two? There has been one team with a sub .500 record to make the playoffs, it could happen again the way you guys are going! I have a feeling, however, that you'll turn it around and make the playoffs. BTW, Stoney has gone 8-2 and is 3.5 back with six to play. Might be too little to late however as he doesn't have the tie breaker with Dale.

We took 2 from Semper to take the west. That leaves Semper up 2.5 games over hawk who got swept by Jeep at home! Spidey took advantage of the AWOL GB for his 6th straight win and has a 5.5 lead with six to play.

Well, Hawk kept it interesting in the East, but he's gotta get a sweep and hope Spidey gets swept to take the division.

Meanwhile, his sweep puts him in the WC slot ahead of Semper on tie breakers. Semper has to play the suddenly hot Smokey while Hawk gets the slumbering GB Squad.

AND, in the Central, Falcon has finally put it to rest and clinched.
