The league is created, called "4 Half Team League" - 140M, DH, standard waivers, 5/10/20 drop, random division assignments. Please try to include at least one of your franchises' city or nickname in the team name.

Just to make sure I'm clear, we can draft one more FA, in addition to our Round 5 pick?

Thanks for setting this up!

Correct, but the FA can have no affiliation to a selected franchise. For example, I thought about taking Dan Brouthers, but because his cheaper card belongs to the Braves, he is not eligible to be selected as a FA.

Got it--sorry if I'm being dense, but why was A-Rod eligible as a FA, since his cheaper cards were taken by the Yankees?

Awww, crap - my turn to be dense. That is a good catch - A-Rod is not eligible for FA because another manager has ownership of his cards. Rburgh needs to repack.

Rburgh - if Beckwith is your 2nd choice, go ahead and take him and I will reselect.

DougT - hold off until we get that squared away.

When we fill out our draft card, do we have to put the highest priced card for that franchise, or can we use any card?

I know if we were to not list someone, that person would be a free agent. But I want to make sure I understand this nuance.
By forcing owners to list the highest priced player, there will be more free agents.

thanks in advance Treyomo - great job running this!

You don't have to list the highest priced player - you just have to list one of his cards. Doesn't have to be the card for your franchise - as long as you have ownership rights (either the highest priced of all his cards, or the highest priced of the cards on owned franchises), you can put any version on your draft card. However, if you do not list him on original draft card, then other franchises with ownership rights can grab him in waivers (essentially, a restricted FA that does not count against your 1+1 because your franchise has secondary ownership rights). Example - if, for some crazy/lucky reason the Orioles do not select Frank Robinson on his draft cards, my Reds can pick him up in waivers and he would not be considered one of my free agents because he has a Reds card, and I could use any version of his card.

If no one else has ownership rights to a player you choose to exclude from your draft, you still have full season rights to that player. So, regarding A-Rod - no one can use him other than the owner of the Yankees post hitters because the Rangers hitters were not selected and A-Rod is not eligible for free agency (true FAs are only players on unselected franchises and NeL players).

Ditto with Willard Brown--I can re-pick.
