What I noticed is how neatly his team, platoons included, fit so nicely inside his 180 salary cap. It's almost as if his team was created before the cap was decided.

I was also in the draft and I joined Friday morning before work. Fridays are really busy for me so I had no time to read emails or posts yesterday. When I got home and got on the computer, instead of waiting for the draft to start, I was greeted with a message that said " your draft started 45 minutes ago". While I have no complaints with HAL's early picks, he made some puzzling ones later in the draft in the mid tier players. Since I'm a sap, probably won't petition for my credit back but play this annoyance out for a 75 win season. Many commissioners stack the deck in their favor rather then set up an honest league and let the games play out. I really miss Nev since he was always fair even if he complained a lot. I think that Strat should do something with a rule change--something like no changes to leagues without a 24 hour notice.

Thanks Richard

Tried emailing strat twice, each time got a failure notice...

Decided to play the team since it really wasn't SOM's fault. The team sucks but so it goes.

I wasn't thinking. It was never my intent to hose any of the other owners.

My sincere apologies to all that were affected. In hind site when my wife told me in the morning of the change in plans I should have just quit the league when I knew I wouldn't be able to do the draft.

If Druid and others wish to hold a grudge I understand. I wish I could undo what I did and I won't make the error of changing the draft time without notifying all in advance.

Brad and I have played in at least 50 leagues together over the past few years and I have ALWAYS found him to be a worthy competitor (one of the very best) and a true gentleman. He certainly does not need to resort to any sort of shenanigans to achieve an unfair advantage, nor do I believe that he would change the draft time of our league in order to gain the upper hand.

I've certainly been guilty of making a quick decision without thinking through all the ramifications involved, and I believe that this was the case with Brad and this draft. Brad has issued a league-wide message offering to purchase a credit for those managers who were adversely affected by the draft time switch... and offered a sincere apology for the snafu.

I really don't see any of this as worthy of the AMBER alert that has been posted which is very damaging to his reputation, and I would appreciate it if you would consider changing the title of your Subject.

For what it's worth.

I also have played in a lot of leagues with nomadbrad. I have never had an issue and look forward to playing in future leagues with him. What happened was very unfortunate and I can understand why people are upset. But like Coffeeholic said, we have all made quick decisions that we later regret.

I agree with coffee. I too have played in many leagues with Brad and have found him to be one of the best ATG managers. He has always played fair and has been helpful to other managers when such assistance has been requested. I know that the time wasn't changed to give himself an advantage but to make a compromise at home with his wife on their Friday night plans. He made a mistake and admitted it. He offered compensation to any manager in the league who was unhappy about the draft time being changed. I think that he has done all that he could do to make things right.

I to have played in numerous leagues with Brad. I have never known him to be unfair. I'm not in this league, but in my opinion Brad could of handle this better. It looks like is is trying to make things right. As for the other league brought up where he set up franchise's and took 1st choice. The only thing I can say about that is if it looked unfair. Why join and waste a credit. There is always franchise leagues that get started and the person that starts the league takes the Yankees.
Brad, Big Ric, and I have started many 4 season campaign leagues and probably will start another in the near future. I would never have a problem playing in a league that Brad created.

I've played in many leagues with nomadbrad as well. And we've been friendly and talked a lot. I didn't mention another small, yet for me revealing, tidbit. The draft in question was set up by
Brad 5 minutes -per his own account - after DFG 102052 set up a regular life draft league for that Friday night at 9 p.m. I messaged Brad about not being thrilled with his choice to set up a league to compete with that one, particularly as there have been problems filling those leagues and when that happens occasionally dry spells ensue where there are no live drafts at for weeks. And I was quite concerned that the two competing life drafts at the same time would result in neither league filling. So initially I joined neither league but on Friday morning there were four guys in Brad's draft and no one had signed up for the 999 live league, so I joined Brad's league.

My point is that Brad's behavior regarding this draft did not sit well with me, particularly after he arbitrarily changed the time of the draft after I had joined, the morning of the draft. Thus my post, which did not attack Brad's character per se but merely warned people about blithely joining leagues that he creates. People are free to draw their own conclusions. The entire picture for me simply suggests that he has some self-serving tendencies. I myself, have not precluded joining future leagues that he creates. I actually intend to as there aren't that many leagues forming, period. But I will be very diligent in protecting my own interests in such leagues and others should be vigilant as well IMHO.

Another issue I have, is not just with Brad per se, but with Commissioners who create theme leagues and then choose the best scenario for themselves and any one else signing up gets leftovers. It is hard for me to come up with an alternative explanation other than self-interest when people consciously create such scenarios. And in this case, that is exactly what Brad did. He's a bright guy and an excellent manager and knows exactly what he is doing. That said, as far as the draft time change, my take on it was that it was pure lack of consideration for the rights of others. I doubt he thought it through to gain a competitive advantage, but as Radagast Brown pointed it, his behavior was, at the least, inconsiderate.

Another point. I have started a fair number of live drafts. It would never, ever even occur to me to change the time of such a draft on the day of the draft as doing so violates an implicit social contract among the participants. The slightest amount of reflection should cause one to realize that it puts other managers at risk for precisely what happened. And for me that is just not okay behavior. The only reason I can see for changing the time of such a draft is if it doesn't fill by the proscribed time, then it is typical to move it back an hour etc.
