Early thoughts on possible Red Sox additions:

1/ Harry Agganis "The Golden Greek". 1955 season. Local boy who could literally do no wrong -- kissed babies, helped old women across the street. Was torn between professional baseball and football (in the College Football Hall of Fame). Rather than a meh 1954 rookie season (though with great fielding stats), how about the 1955 season in which it looked as if Agganis was about to show the world what he was capable of until he dropped dead at the age of 26? I would be the first person to argue against admitting players under 100 abs, but the slash line of .313/.383/.458 isn't going to skew the league stats much except for doubles maybe (10 in 83 abs). Lots of Boston-area places named for him.

2/ Ray Culp. 1970 season. We already have two of his years, but 1970 was arguably his best. 131 ERA+, 1.202 WHIP (mostly from BBs). Though it can never be reflected here, he held cleanup batters in 1970 to a .178/.303/.307 slash. RHP who looks to be a 3 or 4R.

3/ Jon Lester. 2010 season. Very good LHP addition to the Red Sox. One of the reasons for the Sox success in the 2000s. 134 ERA+, nice peripherals. 2R. card here: http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/90314/2010/1/2010
