Some random thoughts on Ranger additions:

1/ Ivan Rodriguez. 1997 season. A cheaper card for Pudge than his '99 version. By WAR estimates, '97 is his best year (though probably because of defense but that can't get much better in SOM). http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/3291/1690/1/90

2/ Juan Gonzalez. 1998 season. The other MVP season. Led the league in doubles and RBIs. 149 ops+. Looks like he'd be a 2L (but as he hit .306/.344/.623 against righties that tells you how good he was against lefties).

3/ Gary Matthews, Jr. 2006 season. What's not to like? Switch-hitter, doubles (44), 19 hrs, .371 obp, 121 ops+, good defense. A 1/2L (more power against lefties)

So far ambassadors have suggested:

SP - Kenny Rogers 1995
OF - Rusty Greer 1997

Other suggestions recently so any movement on this?

For consideration, if I had to choose between Andy's two pitcher requests (1995 Kenny Rogers and 1991 Nolan Ryan) I would choose Ryan. I don't see Ryan played, and 1991 is his best year.

I use Ryan a lot, actually. I'm not against another Ryan card, but Rogers was a longtime starter whose only card in the set is a relief card.

The 1981 Ryan is the one we need!

1981 IS an * in the CDROM game (81 was the strike season and all stats are pro-rated)

well, 21 starts and 149 innings in 1981 would be like 31 starts and 224 innings (aprox) over 162 games, so I would think so.
