Game lost yesterday because my closer did not enter the game

PostThu Nov 03, 2016 8:28 am

Here is a link to my 1st game last night, a game lost in the 9th inning when I had Kenny Rogers set as my closer in the team pitching preferences who did not enter in the 9th inning and as a result my team lost with John Wetteland pitching who entered the game in the 8th inning as my setup reliever. I had taken the time yesterday to calculate that Kenny Rogers as my best reliever against my opponent.

I understand the point of your question, but all the damage came from rolls on the hitter cards, so it would appear you would have lost anyway even if your closer had entered the game? In fact, the one out Wetteland did get would have been a walk on Roger's card. But that doesn't answer your question, I know! Don't have one for that. Frustrating game, I know!

For Joe Gordon against a lefty the 3-5 roll on his card was only a home run 1 to 8, not a full home run against a righty. So Gordon could have made an out.

What were your other preferences? Were you using "maximise closer"? Was Rodgers also first set up with a "don't use before the 8th or don't use before the 7th"?

Wetteland was set to F2, Rogers to F1. Rogers did not pitch in previous 3 games. Closer use set to maximize, Relief usage aggressive. I like to let the computer to make all decisions and do not like to set anything, not even my lineup. I code as little as possible and coded only the Don't Rel B4, fatigue factors and the bullpen roles closer, setup, tied and 9th+ and tied and late. Had Rogers set to tied and 9th+ and tied and late along with closer, Wetteland was setup.

Well there's your answer. HAL is not going to remove Wetteland until he's AT LEAST F2. A lot of people seem to not know that F9 is fully rested and F0 is totally gassed. Hope that's not the case here ;)

That is the problem then. When you want the closer to come in to nail down the victory, that does not happen.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result ;)

I'm not for insanity, so I deselected the Don't Rel B4 setting so that there is no fatigue level for my setup reliever.
