Game 7

PostWed Nov 02, 2016 11:47 pm

Tied 6-6 in the bottom of the 9th. Madden is an idiot. Having Chapman pitch last night up 7-2. Tonight he pulls Hendricks to soon and Ross saves Lester's ass. He brings in Chapman tonight forgetting he used him last night up 7-2. Win or lose Madden is just maddening this series. Will he be the goat black cat Bartman all combined? He has just taken a brain fart.

Who you going to pitch next when you have already told your bullpen they suck and Chapman is all we got? That's if the Cubs get through the 9th. Oh and a pop up and here we go. Francona is head and shoulders above Madden

OK I get it. Madden knew it was going to rain in the 10th. He will have Chapman again tomorrow. What a mastermind he is.

Man wouldn't you love to have Chapman coming from the pen now? Montgomery coming in. Didn't he pitch last night? Madden is stupid and whenever you complain about HAL and his bullpen moves think about Madden and how much better he is at programming football games for your playstation 4

And yet they win because the players are enough to overcome the manager. HAL?

I hear ya Chase...I've always thought Madden gets way too much credit, going back to his Tampa days. He's a great motivator and works well with young talent, but his managerial decisions are often baffling. But l, like last night, the win covers up his deficincies.

I equate it to the guy playing black jack that splits 10s, hits when he should stay (or visa verse), and wins a hand going one of those things. So he feels justified that it's the right move(s)

I was pulling for the Cubs up until the 7th inning of game 6. Then I pulled for the Indians simply because Maddon has no business winning (or even managing) a championship team.

Doesn't help when half of your sp are hurt. Indians almost won because of Francona. Cubs won despite Madden. Hal wouldnt have screwed up as bad as Madden. Biggest Francona mistake was pulling Crisp and not having him bat at end of game.

Why Is No One Questioning Francona's Game 7 Moves?

Everyone (including me) seems to be doing a lot of second guessing of Joe Maddon’s moves in the World Series. Until Hittmens' comment, I had not seen anyone else questioning Terry Francona for a couple of questionable moves that came back to bite the Indians.

- I am convinced that bringing in Michael Martinez as a defensive replacement with the score tied is a bad move. With two outs and the tying run on base they would have been in much better shape with Coco Crisp (hitting .333 in 12 ABs with 2 doubles) at the plate.

- I also wonder about walking Rizzo, which I have not heard anyone mention. I understand that intentionally walking Rizzo is a no-brainer if you are tied in the bottom half of the 10th inning and one run beats you. I don’t think it’s automatically the right move in the top half of the 10th, though. Obviously, Rizzo scoring turned out to be the difference. I would be curious to see some sort of simulation regarding whether or not walking Rizzo is more likely to lead to the win.
