You make some good points in that last post. I do think if strat enforced more fatigue penalties for over use it would help some. Given we have no minor leagues to tap I have little or no problem with relievers doubling their real life innings. It is the Murrays of the game who only threw 50 something innings and yet carry an R4 rating that give me problems.

Correct some of those improperly rated cards. Enforce game to game fatigue rules so having a one man bullpen will not be a winning strategy. One of the problems from my point of view is if you have a loaded bullpen like KC last year HAL either does not properly handle it or it gives you no fatigue advantage over the guy who can counter with a single sub 6 mil reliever and have a better bullpen than the one you spent 20 mil on.

Not saying completely eliminate the super reliever. Just mitigate it some and move just a little toward something more realistic.

Can you imagine what some of us might do in the 200x game next year if they rated Miller an R4 or Chapman an R3? And I say us there because I know I would be as guilty as anyone.

Strat is not real life, it is not real baseball, it's a game.

I think the best solution to the issue, is to increase the salary value of players that still dominate even when tired. Given that unlike real life, owners can have starters removed very early on, and thereby get to their "better" relievers, and don't have to deal with the real life issue of overuse, increasing salaries of dominant relievers may be the only way to equate their value.

Jared Parker is awesome, but he also costs 13 mill or so. If you spend that much money on one player, something is going to suffer somewhere. I think it is fun to have him in the game, as it is a game, it adds some very interesting strategies in terms of drafting, protecting him in the batting order, and what to do when facing him.......

One way to minimize his damage (well to a point), if you don't draft him and/or have him on your roster, is to have a RH weighted park, and throw righties at him. Throwing southpaws at him is not a good idea.

I absolutely agree Strat is not real life baseball. But it is marketed as a simulation. And as such would you not agree getting as close to real as theoretically possible should be a goal that strat always strives toward? Recognizing of course they will never get there they should still have that goal.

I do find it interesting on many baseball talk shows they are talking like they believe relievers could be used in this manner all year and many are talking about multiple relievers getting in excess of 20 mil this offseason. I think that would be over spending.

Though I might be tempted to give Chapman 20 mil with a shot at trying to convert to starting pitcher. If he could go out there every 5th day and give you 6 innings he just might be worth that. And of course worse things could happen than having him fail and go back to bullpen to close.
