Barry Bonds

PostMon Nov 21, 2016 7:06 pm

I ended up with the Bonds 93 card for a team of mine, and I started to really look at that card. It was his first year with the Giants (pre-steroids??) and it was a pretty incredible year. .333/.458/.677, 46 homers and 29 SB. And, if you believe Strat ratings, he was a 1 fielder with a -2 arm.

Imagine playing at that level in the big leagues and saying to yourself, "I'm going to have to start taking drugs to get better."

His ego was too big. Sosa and McGwire stealing the show from him pissed him off.

Exactly. And he was a "1" fielder with Pittsburgh without question. He and Griffey were the 2 best players in the game , but that wasn't good enough for "fat head"

Bonds was indeed a "1" fielder with the Bucs but I question the minus two arm! Maybe a plus 29, or so it seemed on the throw to the plate trying to cut down that renowned speedster Sid "Ricky Who?" Bream in that 7th game! (On behalf of still bitter Pirate fans everywhere).
