Bill was kind enough to run a randomizer:

george barnard wrote:Here you go:

1 Set of 12 Unique Numbers
Range: From 1 to 12
Set #1

4, 5, 7, 12, 10, 1, 3, 8, 6, 2, 9, 11

Bill

The sign up list is below:

1. BDWard
2. andycummings
3. Musial6
4. 1787
5. bontomn
6. boog
7. drfreeze49
8. ctstough
9. The Last Druid
10. salmonbellies
11.dodgerfan always
12. Muadib1950

Based on the sign up list and randomizer, the pick order for Season 1 is:

1. 1787
2. bontomn
3. drfreeze49
4. Muadib1950
5. salmonbellies
6. BDWard
7. Musial6
8. ctstough
9. bigbadboog
10. andycummings
11. The Last Druid
12. dodgerfanalways

Based on the pick order, the divisions for Season 1 are:

East
1. 1787
4. Maudib1950
7. Musial6
10. andycummings

Central
2. bontomn
5. salmonbellies
8. ctstough
11. The Last Druid

West
3. drfreeze49
6. BDWard
9. bigbadboog
12. dodgerfanalways

The pick matrix for all 12 seasons looks like this:

1787 - - - - - - - - 1-12-7-2-9-3-10-5-8-4-11-6

bomtomn - - - - - 2-9-3-10-5-8-4-11-6-1-12-7

drfreeze49 - - - - 3-10-5-8-4-11-6-1-12-7-2-9

Maudib1950 - - - -4-11-6-1-12-7-2-9-3-10-5-8

salmonbellies - - - 5-8-4-11-6-1-12-7-2-9-3-10

BDWard - - - - - - -6-1-12-7-2-9-3-10-5-8-4-11

Musial6 - - - - - - -7-2-9-3-10-5-8-4-11-6-1-12

ctstough - - - - - - 8-4-11-6-1-12-7-2-9-3-10-5

bigbadboog - - - - 9-3-10-5-8-4-11-6-1-12-7-2

andycummings - - 10-5-8-4-11-6-1-12-7-2-9-3

The Last Druid - - 11-6-1-12-7-2-9-3-10-5-8-4

dodgerfanalways - 12-7-2-9-3-10-5-8-4-11-6-1

To determine the pick order for any season, read the matrix from left to right. So, for example, ctstough is picking 8th in season 1, 4th in season 2, 11th in season 3, 6th in season 4, etc., etc. Once all managers join the league, I'll post the pick matrix in league mail, and will do so in each subsequent season, as we will be using it to determine pick order for all 12 seasons.

Once all managers have joined the league, I'll contact SOM to set up the league to allow one team at a time to draft an entire team and to place teams in divisions as set forth above. I've been in several leagues where SOM has done this, so it should be no problem here. Note, however, that since it's the weekend, depending on when all managers enter the league, SOM may not be able to properly set up the league until Monday.

David: Thanks for signing up as an alternate. I will keep your contact information in case any manager cannot honor his 12 season commitment. If you look at the draft matrix, the draft order is purposely staggered, so that no manager has consecutive early picks, such as picking 1st in season 1, 2nd in season 2, 3rd in season 3, etc., etc., making it impossible for a manager to draft his early teams and then bail out of the league when it is time to pick lower. That being said, I hope all managers honor the 12 season commitment.

That means appearing in at least one game for the franchise. He does not need to have a card for that franchise as long as he played for the franchise. NeL cards are not eligible, as they are not based on an MLB season."

Just so this is crystal clear in my mind anyway - I believe there are many players that span Pre-war to Post-war - I think you are saying their Pre-war card can not be used if they have both - correct? But what if they did play for your franchise in the pre-war years, but did not in the post-war years, but they do have a post-war card?

Great question Musial. You are correct. Pre-war cards cannot be used, as the league is using the Post WWII card set. However, if a player played for a franchise prior to WWII and has any card in the Post WWII card set (even one not carded to that franchise), he is eligible to play for that franchise. Note, however, that if the player has no card in the Post WWII card set, he obviously can't play for that franchise in our league, even if he has a card in the Pre WWII card set.

The true test to determine franchise eligibility is if a player EVER PLAYED for the franchise. If the answer is yes, then he is eligible to play for the franchise, using ANY card (even if carded to another team) available in the Post WWII/Expansion card set.

As an aside, this raises an interesting question for players who are still active and have changed teams in the current off season. So, for example, Chris Sale, who was traded from the White Sox to the Red Sox in early December, has not yet played any games for the Red Sox, so for purposes of our league, he is currently eligible only for the White Sox. However, once the 2017 MLB season begins and he appears in a game for the Red Sox, he will be eligible to be chosen by both franchises in our league. Andrew McCutchen, currently eligible only for the Pirates, but on the trading block, will become eligible for another team if he is traded by the Pirates once he appears in a game for his new team.

OK, Bernie - thanks for that explanation, but one more question for clarification:
Define this phrase please:
"if a player played for a franchise prior to WWII"

does that mean thru SOM's pre-war period, which I believe is 1946, or some other date?

Although I understand your question about the historical accuracy of the dates of SOM's pre and post WWII card sets, we have no choice but to use SOM's pre and post WWII demarcation, since we are using the Post WWII card set. That means that only cards from 1947 and later are being used for our league and that anything prior to 1947 is considered pre-WWII.

The league is full. Great job everyone! I'll email SOM and have them put us in proper draft order and in the correct divisions. Once that's done, 1787 can lead off for us by choosing a franchise and picking his entire team. Let us know when you are finished, so that the next manager in line (bontomn) can pick his team.

A couple of more notes: Once you pick a franchise, please change your team name to that of your franchise and include the number of your pick. So, for example, if 1787 takes the Dodgers, his team name should be Los Angeles Dodgers 1. If I take the White Sox with my 6th pick, my team name will be changed to Chicago White Sox 6.

Am I mistaken, but it doesn't appear that the divisions were set up in the order you had posted above?

So it looks like 1787 chose the Dodgers, correct?

Patience, Musial, patience. Please read my previous post. I've emailed SOM and we're waiting for SOM to take action to place us in proper divisions and to set up the draft. Once that occurs, 1787 can draft his entire team, followed by bontomn, who has the second pick. I realize that some of you may not have used this format previously, so I've tried to spell everything out. I know it's lengthy, but it is important that everything be read.

And yes, it appears that 1787 has taken the Dodgers. As stated previously, managers need not announce their team until it is their turn to draft.

As I also wrote, because it's the weekend, SOM may not take any action until Monday. If that is the case, we'll just have to wait a day until SOM places us in the proper format to draft. Check back here from time to time for further updates.
