http://365.strat-o-matic.com/team/1437522http://365.strat-o-matic.com/league/431178Theory: Pitching, defense, hitting, stealing, bunting, hitting & running (in that order).
I was re-reading the old December 2005 thread in the archives with luckyman and C2 discussing the hit & run and decided to give it a whirl with the benefit of ten years' hindsight. I tried to avoid overdoing the hit & run thing based on that alone.
Result: 84-78 (missed playoffs)
What's interesting: It's probably not an optimal way to go, but I'm okay with experimental over optimal sometimes. 186 stolen bases, 51 sacrifices, four of seven on the squeeze play, and 12 for 39 on the hit & run (.308 batting avg on the hit & run play).
While I led the league in pitching (despite allowing 68 unearned runs from 109 errors) which was strategy plan part A, I was 10th in run scoring, which just didn't cut it (+36 run diff). In addition, I was pretty much run over by edge's 101 win Rogers team in the West division. That happens too.
An okay plan with some bad luck and good competition yielded sub-par results. Still, a fun thought experiment to get out of the system.
