Looking for a league

PostMon Dec 05, 2016 1:56 pm

Hello all,

I haven't played any type of strat-o-matic game in nearly 40 years. I am excited to find this online game play to sort of replay some childhood games. I would like to join a league that uses any/all players, has a modest salary cap to lessen every roster from being a HOF gold standard team. A live draft would be fun. Open to DH either way. Since I am new to this, I would hope someone that has a little patience would show an interest in adding me to their league. I only signed up for the free version at this time, but will gladly purchase what is required to facilitate this idea. Hope to hear from one or more of you soon!!!

Mdmtx-

First of all- welcome. I think after playing in a few leagues you will be glad you joined. My experience has been great and I'm certain that you will find the other players on here to be patient and willing to share their knowledge. Your learning curve will be expedited if you take the time to read through the forums; particularly this one and General Strategy. They contain almost everything you need to construct a competitive team. I have learned a lot from many different players through the forum. MARCPELLETIER and J-Pav have been the two that improved my game the most and made playing so much more enjoyable.

Welcome. You need to understand the online game is way different from the paper and dice game. This is more of a competition among managers than a reproduction of actual results. Study the rules. The biggest difference is the "BallPark Effect". (Additional Homerun and Single chances that vary by BP). Another big difference is that cards are mostly based on actual stats regardless of playing time so someone with great stats who played little may have a Babe Ruth like card , but commands a huge salary. Lastly, the starting pitchers with an asterick (becoming less common) can pitch every 4th game, the others can pitch every 5th game. Others can chime in.
