Nonsense. Yes, chance is a major factor (the biggest if teams are equally matched), and maintaining the value of your team is important for obvious reasons. But the number of teams played is irrelevant, except to the extent you can learn to improve your game with experience.

Like many other assertions in the above post, the notion that the games are rigged and outcomes are somehow pre-determined by the number of games played is total nonsense, as any successful manager knows, and as the manager rankings illustrate beyond any doubt.

if you truly believe what you are saying then i'd hope you never play another season. that would be insane. i know its not true of course, at least as it relates to me. in my most recent season i sucked it up and took about a 2 mil payroll hit after 129 games. my newly tooled team finished 21-12 for an 89 win season and a wild card berth.

We all have our own opinions.

With me, my biggest gripe in this game is all the blown saves. Blown saves by cheap guys, by the most expensive guys.

Sure, it would be nice to think we don't suck all the time, at a game we love so much. But sometimes, we just do.

My suggestion, would be to check out the winning formulas of our more successful owners. They are tried and true.

But that is just my opinion, and we all know what they say bout opinions...

FYI. Once you fall about 5 games or more below .500, it's over. You are not going to recoup those games. I have never seen anybody climb from playing below .500 and win their division

This team was 5 games under .500 and I believe 8 games behind first place and finished first nevertheless and won the championship

Well, I guess you'll reply:"of course, you have 127 teams overall, SOM felt you needed some payback". First, consider I've been active on and off since 2001. Second, I won 33 championships, which translated into 66 freebies---actually, closer to 70 freebies, since I like to play in 24-team format and I've been quite successful in those, and of the 65 other teams that made the playoffs, let's say I got presumably 30-ish freebies. Thus, I got overall 100-ish freebies. So, you really believe that SOM needed to give some payback because I paid for 20 credits over a course of 15 years?

As a relative newbie (I've fielded 31 teams in 3 seasons) I have a .529 winning percentage, made the playoffs 15 times, and won 3 championships (all in ATG and Players Championships). I've been the owner of a team that faded as the season wore on despite a big early lead. I'm currently in the Players Championship playoffs and I'm witnessing teams rise and teams fade as the season nears completion. There is a secret to success, and Marc Pelletier has found it. It's in the percentages. Build a team that maximizes those percentages and you will succeed over time. My successes, when they have come, are because I have studied what Marc and others have generously shared on these boards. If you want to win, read the advice offered by the most successful SOMers and follow it. Part of the fun of this game is trying to put together a winning team AFTER your draft gets blown up. That is where the really skilled players shine.

Ditto what Phil said. My question to you, Danno. Is why do you keep playing so often if you are so certain the game is rigged?

Your name sounds familiar. You accused some other managers of cheating. Were you suspended for salary dumping too?

As much as others may want to try and debunk what Danno says I do agree with a few of his points. I have been playing this game since it started on TSN so its not like I am a noob. I have seen teams whose rosters just make you shake your head wondering how they possibly win as many games as they did much less win the league. I could put the same team out there and lose 90 plus. It dont matter who you put on the team if you have figured out the not so random number generator you will know what card to put in what slot in the batting order and have a good shot of winning. One case in point this season for a example is I had the same player leading off in 3 different leagues and in first inning in all three leagues this player gets hurt, not so random in my book. Two ways to win at this game and thats to be very lucky or to invest the time and effort into figuring out where the rolls are going to fall in the lineup. I have no sour grapes about this and play the game just for the fun of it and always will but anyone that says this game is all about just knowing the cards I have to disagree. Managers that are cranking out 90 plus win teams on a regular basis have figured out more than just the cards

It does seem entirely possible that the game engine could be optimized for speed to use the same dice roll multiple times for all the leagues that are happening that evening. I can see it isn't far fetched that the same player could be injured in many of the leagues on the same evening. Not sure how I would use that information to my advantage, though.
