Can someone at SOM explain this to me?

PostWed Mar 01, 2017 8:29 am

Why in game #5 of the season did Randy Lerch start for my team? He is set as the #5 starter in the default rotation setting. There are no per game starters set. There were no injuries. My other 4 starters are all * starters. There is simply no explanation and it's obvious we lost because he started and the other low budget relievers ended up getting 6 innings of work as well.

Can anyone at Strat or on the forum here explain this to me???

Has Strat responded to you via email yet?

Did the guy who was scheduled to start this game go past the 9th in his previous start, or get used in relief? If so, he might have been fatigued.

Nah, Walter Johnson pitched a nice 9-inning 140 pitches complete game.

HAL likes to play hunches. He must have thought that Learch was a shoe in, or he just likes that Learch guy from the Adams Family.

Lerch started because you had him in your default rotation settings - all you have to do is remove him from the rotation and since your other four starters are on *3 days rest, HAL will automatically bypass Lerch.

That's not actually correct JB. I have done it the same way for 200+ teams and it has never happened before. And talking to other long time managers they agreed that they pretty much do it the same way as me.

But, more importantly, SOM did reply to my email and said ... "We have looked into the code and something weird definitely happened here."

They are checking into it and hopefully will respond with some kind of answer.

Cool! I always carry a cheapie .50 starter-only when going with a four man rotation and he never gets used - whatever works!
