Looking for Managers to have a draft on the ILC Boards.
12 Team League
Cap: $225 Million
DH: Yes
Once we obtain 12 Managers, we will request a random number sequence to determine the draft order. This will be a serpentine draft (1-12, 12 -1, 1-12, etc.).
Rules:
1. In turn, each Manager will select two (2) players which all must come from the same franchise, with the twist described in rule #3. They are considered teammates for franchise purposes, they need not have been actual teammates in real life. Example, Gabby Hartnett and Bruce Sutter would be teammates.
2. Once you draft a teammate grouping from a particular franchise, you cannot select from that franchise again. Thus, if a Manager selects from the Yankees in any round, that would be the only Yankee player selection he could make.
3. In any round, each team can select one (1) and only one "restricted player" - one of the top twelve (by price) hitters cards. Those twelve are as follows:
Babe Ruth
Barry Bonds
Mickey Mantle
Josh Gibson
Rogers Hornsby
Jimmie Foxx
Oscar Charleston
Wille Mays
Ted Williams
Tris Speaker
Lou Gehrig
Hugh Duffy
Thus, every team will be guaranteed to have one (and only one) of the top twelve hitters. If you decide to select one of these hitters in any round, you do not get 2 players (teammates) that round. In addition, that restricted player counts as your selection from that particular franchise (see rule #2). You can trade your restricted player but must receive back the other team's restricted player.
So, for example, if the first manager selects Josh Gibson with the first pick of the draft, he passes up the opportunity to select two players that round, and he has completed any further selection from the NEL franchise. In addition, that is his only restricted player allowed.
4. You don't need to use the highest value card of a player, but the card used must be from that 2 player group franchise. For example, if you chose Lajoie with another A's players in that teammate group, you could not then use one of his Cleveland cards.
5. There will be twelve (12) rounds of drafting teammates from a franchise, plus a round (at any time the manager selects) of drafting one of the top 12 hitters.
6. An additional round (at any time chosen by the manager) will consist of naming a ballpark from a franchise not selected by that Manager previously, or subsequently.
7. The following will be also considered franchises:
a) The NEL League
b) The West Coast (California, Seattle, San Diego)
c) The Heartland (Colorado, Kansas City, Milwaukee-Exp)
d) The Eastern Seaboard (NY Mets. Florida, and Tampa Bay)
e) The Southwest (Arizona, Houston, and Texas)
f) Team Canada (Montreal and Toronto)
g) Any pre-1900 players (e.g., Ross Barnes, Lady Baldwin, etal.) not on the drop down menus for any listed franchise.
8. A franchise includes any of its former teams (e.g., the Giants include the NY Giants), unless specifically identified in Rule #7 above.
9. The old Wash teams will be part of the Minn. franchise.
10. Trades will be allowed.
11. Once the draft is complete, you can decide to forego a teammate selection you made and select teammates from another franchise - as long as you abide by the general rules - e.g., no duplication of franchises.
12. By opening day, Each manager must end up with a total of twelve (12) teammate groups from different franchises, along with one of the top 12 hitters from a separate franchise, and a ballpark from a separate franchise.
13. Rosters can be 25 players, or 27 players (by adding two players from a separate franchise after waivers).
Random Number assignment - one the league is filled, we will request a random number sequence - to be filled by somebody not managing in the league. The sequence will determine the draft slot number of each team in the sign-up. For example, if the sequence is 7,11,2,9... then the 1st sign-up will have draft slot #7, the second sign-up will have draft slot #11, and so on.
Time Clock: A Manager will have 12 hours to select a teammate group. We will use the "date stamp from the ILC post. If not chosen in that time, the next Manager can select, with the skipped Manager being able to make his selections at any time after he is skipped. Note: Sunday will not count. So if the last Manager made his selection at 11:00 pm on Saturday, the next Manager has until 11:00 am on Monday. I'm hoping we can move the draft along at a much quicker pace - but if you are looking for a speedy draft league, this may not be for you.
