Keeper League Interest

PostFri Mar 10, 2017 1:45 am

I am interested in starting a new 2017 keeper league, but before I post a sign up sheet I wanted to see how much interest there is from other owners to enter into a new keeper league. If I see enough interest I will post a sign up sheet.

I would at least take a look at the rules.

I think it is tough to come up with a consensus of rules and get people to commit beyond that first season. But not impossible......

Would you play more than one season with each card set? I think that would allow teams to reconfigure beyond real life opening day, deeper into the real MLB season, and allow for more parity from season to season.

A salary cap would be wise, in my opinion, (again) or otherwise you run the risk of one or two managers dominating and other managers disinterested..

I guess the problem can arise if some of the owners quit next year because their rosters stink. I am not saying that would happen, hopefully it wouldn't. Try to choose people you feel are responsible and reasonable.

I'm in 7 Keeper Leagues. It seems whenever there is an opening and we post it, we fill the spot in about an hour.
Starting one from scratch is something different, but I do believe there is a world of guys out there who would love to join.

Radagast has a good point. Post the rules with the signup (Prospect draft/ 1 or 2 leagues, etc.). However, none of my 7 keeper leagues has a salary cap. Most guys prefer the 'no cap'. If you can build the best team over time, it shouldn't be capped.

With all that said. I'm pretty much overwhelmed with keepers, so I won't be able to join.

Good luck.

I am currently in 5 keeper leagues and have been in many more. I was just trying to get a feel for whether or not I would be able to get enough players to start a new keeper league. If I start one it would follow most of the standard rules you see in 75% of all keeper leagues. And yes there is no salary cap in a keeper league. At least not in any of those that I am a part of.

I would be interested. I'll take a look at the rules if/when you post for it.

I love the 24 team keeper league I am in, but the only problem is finding 24 guys that want to do a 24 team keeper league. I will post rules and sign up sheet tomorrow. Heading out for the evening now.

I have some interest. More so if it was 24 team. More so if there was a bit of variation from the traditional keepers. Don't like the reorganization of divisions putting best records in one division and worst all in another. You shouldn't punish teams for being good. Also leaves teams that aren't as good, selling the future to get that playoff spot when they should be improving for next year instead and a quality team trading for the future and getting further ahead. It is a bit more complicated than that but just not sure it really long run helps the lesser teams. One of my keepers also doesn't do prospect drafts separate from regular draft. There is one draft and anyone is eligible to be drafted...Even guys not yet signed or even drafted by major league teams. That league also has a free agency system where you can lose players but don't care for that part of it. In essence just throwing out ideas in case you want to change it up a bit.
