Hi,

The link below is the standings from each season.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... =657172243

Some reading from the history books. We have played 7 seasons so far half of us have been around from the start:

keyzick

thisisray
joshflanagan
gbrookes

joshflanagan is the only owner to win the title twice 2013 & 2015 card sets.

gbrookes looks like he has the most playoffs/finals wins with 21.

Nelson Cruz is the only player that I have still on my roster from that first season.

Commish and colleagues,

Just a thought and if it doesn't resonate, that's fine, but I was thinking about the NL and AL leagues that I'm in. I really like the makeup of the teams- more realistic, but the losing of players due to mlb trades really puts a crimp in the roster planning and every once in while a star is traded and the Strat team has no recourse but losing the player.
It's the same for everyone to be sure, but certain teams, through no fault of their own could get it hard.

A modest proposal could be, let's say in the next year's (obviously not this year) FA draft, if, after three or four rounds a supplemental draft held for a compensation player (max two or three rounds) for your traded players. The order would be by the highest salary player lost would get first compensation pick and so on- up to two or three compensation picks.
This proposal would not favor any team and would really help the league, I think. I know it would feel a lot better to know you would get some compensation for lost players. And, your compensation picks would be part of your keepers. i.e 13 keepers, two compensations= 15.

Here are some 4th round picks from last year to give an idea of the type of compensation players: R. Refsynder, C. Casali, H. Owens, A. Heaney, W. Harris, B. Revere, R. Madson. Not great but something. After the second round the players would be a little better.

Anyway, if this has merit, good- if not I'm fine with the status quo.

I'm all for this idea!

I think the biggest issue is that it is extra work for the commish. But maybe we just submit our traded guys when we submit the rest of our keepers? That way everyone has to keep track of their own players...

Also are you thinking only about traded players? What about guys that leave as FAs?

I kind of like things the way they are. In the MLB-universe leagues, you get to play more of a GM role building a team for long term success. In the AL/NL-only universe leagues, I guess I look at it as if our role is more that of the Manager than the GM... We have to deal with the roster the GM gives us, and every so often our "GM" trades players to another league and we are left with the challenge of rebuilding a competitive team from the FA pool.

Don't forget, for as many players as we lose to the other league, we also gain a similar number of high quality players from the other league. Our FA drafts in AL/NL only leagues are much richer and rebuilding can happen much quicker.

Also, when drafting or trading in these leagues, I think about things like contract length and a player's relationship with the commuity when making picks and considering trades.

I enjoy the extra challenges of the way the AL/NL leagues are set up as much as I enjoy the different challenges of the MLB leagues. If it were up to me, I wouldn't change anything. But that's just my 2 cents.

Hi Terry, hveed, calbatross, & all,

Terry brought up an idea about trying to help a team that loses a player to the NL. I have thought about his in the past the easiest way for me to keep track of this from a commish stand point and also to help the team out that might have lost a player/s is to just let the owner keep the player that went to the NL rather they went to the NL via trade or left during FA.

However, I think we should only allow an owner to keep two such players. I could code them in the google doc with a green background. That way you could keep two players and have to make a decision if you had a third such player transfer to the NL.

On a side note if anyone kept a player this year that is hurt please post here and I will code that player with a red background it might help when looking at who you have on your roster for next year come time to post keepers.

Those are my thoughts.

Hi,

The draft starts tomorrow at 12 pm EST. Remember if you would like to drop your stadium you need to do so before that time. Also, any players that you have listed as drops are no longer under your control so if you would like to use any of them in a trade you must do that before 12 pm EST tomorrow. No skipping during the 1st round/day. Have a great draft and good luck with your picks.

Hi,

Here are the divisions and the order for the first round which kicks off Wednesday at 12:00 pm EST.
